We are now looking for a Sourcing Manager who will support the New York Head of Vendor Management and play a pivotal role in managing Nordea’s supplier portfolio, ensuring regulatory compliance and risk mitigation, all while uplifting our overall supplier management capabilities.

About this opportunity

Welcome to the Supplier & Contract Management team. We add value by proactively balancing risk, cost, and value throughout the lifecycle of our supplier contracts. As Sourcing Manager you’ll play a valuable role in procurement, collaborating closely with your colleagues and stakeholders in Nordics, Poland and New York, securing that our supplier contracts meet the most updated requirements set by our regulators, and at the same time deliver cost savings, process efficiencies to enable seamless business operations and customer engagement

What you’ll be doing:

  • Carry out supplier due diligence and monitoring activities, including handling of sustainability, financial crime and financial health risk alerts, and Supplier Code of Conduct implementation
  • Identify, lead and manage sourcing initiatives in close cooperation with stakeholders to deliver cost savings, ensure quality and compliance in line with business strategy
  • Coordination with Accounts Payable department to assure that vendors are fully reviewed before initial payment and marked as inactive when services are no longer utilized
  • Performance of third party risk assessment activities for our suppliers
  • Review of contracts, documenting regulatory requirements and risk mitigation, and coordination with the Legal Department to assure compliance with contract signing procedures
  • Managing the periodic review of suppliers and tracking expiring due diligence, insurance, and tax documentation
  • Periodic reporting for the International Division regarding vendor management
  • Tracking of supplier performance and mitigating actions
  • Keep abreast of US and EU regulatory requirements related to supplier management

  • Have the flexibility in working hours due to time zone differences between Europe and US, when needed


Your experience and background: 

  • At least 2 years experience working in sourcing, risk management or legal (specifically related to supplier contracts)
  • Strong Microsoft Office experience, particularly in Excel
  • Strong analytical skills, and the ability to understand risk models, weighting, and scoring
  • Excellent written and spoken English and strong interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work independently, achieve deadlines, and communicate challenges
  • Eagerness and ability to learn about unfamiliar risk management areas, and to apply new risk management concepts and tools in your work
  • Hold a relevant bachelor degree within e.g. Finance, Law or Business Administration or equivalent work experience from within Procurement, Contract Management, Supplier Management, Risk Management, Know Your Customer, Legal or similar functions
  • Experience with sustainability, supplier monitoring, alerts handling, operational risk management concepts, measures, and regulatory frameworks will be considered an advantage but not a strict requirement
