Gdańsk, PL, 80-309 Warszawa, PL, 02-460 Łódź, PL, 93-281

Job ID: 3357

Welcome to Group Technology, where we pride ourselves on engineering solutions and direct Nordea’s transformation by providing a holistic technological view and structured understanding of the bank, and its surrounding environment to enable the Customer Vision and the Business Strategy.

We are looking for an AI Engineer to join our team on a permanent, full-time basis. In this role, you will help us build our own Finance AI Platform - a strategic initiative that will empower Group Function Technology with cutting-edge AI capabilities and lay the foundation for a growing portfolio of AI-driven use cases across the organization.

Nordea is a place where traditions meet tomorrow. We're not just a bank, we're a tech employer on a mission to evolve finance securely and responsibly. Together, we impact millions of people’s daily lives by ensuring they can access our solutions anytime, anywhere, while safeguarding their personal data and wealth. Join us in making an impact on the banking industry.

About our team

Meet the Regulatory Reporting Software Development Team. We deliver end-to-end technology solutions for Nordea's Regulatory Reporting Service Domain - from building and maintaining software to automating key processes and supporting critical platforms. Our work keeps Group Function Technology running smoothly and compliantly, and we are now expanding into AI to unlock the next wave of efficiency and intelligence for the bank.

What you'll be doing

Main responsibilities in this role:

  • Designing, building, and operating agentic AI services - orchestrating tools, workflows, and integrations across cloud systems and enterprise data sources to power our Finance AI Platform
  • Implementing and continuously improving RAG pipelines for internal knowledge and regulatory artefacts, including ingestion, retrieval tuning, and evaluation
  • Integrating AI workflows with internal platforms and back-end services through robust, well-defined APIs and tool/function schemas
  • Building quality and observability in from day one - automated testing, evaluation frameworks, monitoring, telemetry, and performance optimization
  • Collaborating closely with engineers and business stakeholders to set technical direction, establish strong AI foundations, and drive the team forward

Who you are

This is the right role for you if you are a team player with a leadership mindset - someone who takes ownership, leads by example, and helps others grow. You are comfortable working in a new, evolving area where not everything is defined yet. You have a genuine passion for Generative AI - you follow the field closely, have your own point of view, and enjoy turning new ideas into real solutions. You care about engineering quality - clean code, good tests, and solid design matter to you. And you are a generous colleague: you share knowledge, support the people around you, and see the team's success as your own.

Your background and skills include:

  • 5+ years of professional software development experience, with a proven track record of shipping production-grade LLM applications - including RAG, tool/function calling, and agent orchestration - with reliability, security, and observability in mind
  • Strong Python skills as the primary language for AI systems, with solid experience building and integrating RESTful APIs and connecting to enterprise back-end platforms
  • Hands-on RAG experience: document ingestion pipelines, chunking, embeddings, retrieval strategies, grounding, and evaluation - including working with vector storage solutions such as Amazon OpenSearch or pgvector on S3/RDS
  • Practical experience with agentic frameworks and orchestration - planning, routing, tool use, and human-in-the-loop patterns; using frameworks such as LangGraph, LangChain, Microsoft Semantic Kernel, or equivalent
  • AWS cloud experience - including Amazon Bedrock, SageMaker, vector/AI-ready data services, and CI/CD tooling with containerisation via Docker

It would be ideal if you also:

  • Have experience with Snowflake for data platform integration and managing AI-ready data at scale
  • Are familiar with the Model Context Protocol (MCP) and building or consuming MCP-compatible tool interfaces
  • Have hands-on experience working with Claude (Anthropic) models, including prompt engineering and API integration
