Gdańsk, PL, 80-309
Job ID: 5912
Welcome to Nordea Technology!
At Nordea, we're committed to being a partner our customers and society can count on. Technology is at the heart of everything we do, and our Markets Technology organisation build and run critical systems that enable trading, reporting and client services across the Nordic markets.
We are looking for an Application Maintenance & Operations Lead to join our Equities Technology organisation and lead the team responsible for the operational stability of our equity trading landscape.
This is a unique opportunity to combine people leadership, technical expertise and operational excellence in an environment where system availability, responsiveness and stakeholder trust are critical to success.
About our team
You will lead a team of seven specialists and consultants who provide first and second line application support for a diverse portfolio of equity trading and reporting platforms. The team supports systems used across Retail, Corporate and Institutional Trading, covering both trade execution and reporting via TradeHub. Our landscape includes a combination of SaaS solutions and highly critical on-premises platforms with direct exchange connectivity.
Operating in a front-office environment, the team plays a vital role in ensuring stable market access, supporting trading desks, maintaining operational procedures and driving rapid resolution of incidents affecting business-critical services.
What you'll be doing
As the Application Maintenance & Operations Lead, you will be responsible for the day-to-day operational support and continuous improvement of our trading technology platform.
Your responsibilities includes:
- Leading the way and developing a team of support engineers and consultants by participating in the daily work and support cases
- Providing hands-on leadership, working closely with the team on day-to-day tasks, incidents, investigations and major operational events
- Managing support shifts and ensuring effective first and second line support for our equity trading and reporting applications
- Driving operational excellence through well-defined processes, controls and monitoring
- Overseeing daily operational activities, including morning health checks and application readiness reviews
- Acting as the operational escalation point for business-critical incidents
- Coordinating stakeholders across technology, vendors, exchanges and business teams during incidents
- Driving root cause analysis and ensuring lessons learned are translated into lasting improvements
- Leading infrastructure and platform initiatives that improve resilience, scalability and operational efficiency
- Managing relationships with both internal stakeholders and external vendors
- Supporting the trading desks and ensuring clear, timely and transparent communication during incidents
- Managing release planning and maintaining the release calendar across the engineering teams
- Creating a culture focused on ownership, accountability, stability and continuous improvement
Who you are
You are outspoken, passionate and enjoy being close to the systems and people you support. You understand that leadership in a critical trading environment requires visibility, calm decision-making and a willingness to engage directly with technical and operational challenges. You thrive in high-pressure situations, communicate clearly during incidents and can effectively balance business priorities with technical realities.
Most importantly, you are not looking for a purely managerial role. You enjoy working hands-on with the team and helping solve complex operational problems and engaging with traders and engineers.
Your experience and background
We imagine that you have:
- Several years of experience within technology operations, application support or production management
- Experience supporting business-critical and low-latency platforms
- Strong knowledge of incident management and operational processes (ITIL)
- Experience managing complex application landscapes involving multiple vendors and technologies
- Experience driving root cause analysis and service improvement initiatives
- Strong stakeholder management and communication skills
- A structured and analytical approach to problem-solving
- Experience working in regulated environments where availability, accuracy and control are essential

- Experience with trading platforms and trading workflows
- Worked with both SaaS and on-premises application landscapes
- Experience supporting regulatory or transaction reporting solutions
- Knowledge of monitoring, observability and operational tooling
- Experience leading major incidents and service recovery efforts
What we offer
