We are looking for a Head of SD Core Finance Technology unit, who will take the senior leadership responsibility for the collaboration and technology deliveries of solutions supporting Nordea’s fundamental finance processes, and actively drive the operations and development of the unit.

About our team

You will join the Group Functions Technology (GFT) unit as a member of the leadership team. We operate at strategic and operational leadership levels, engaging with Service Domains and functional teams. You act as a Leader of Leaders, ensuring consistent management of technology delivery, run, cost, risk and architectural alignment while staying closely connected to priorities, outcomes and value creation.

Beyond delivering strong operations, you will help shape and transform the unit for the future, aligned with the Technology & Data 2030 strategy. This includes strengthening engineering culture, accelerating Nordea's AI journey and continuously optimising, streamlining and scaling the organisation. You will contribute to GFT commitments – balancing regulatory demands and operational resilience with long-term simplification, productivity and efficiency improvements. As a leader, you support and develop your team members to reach their full potential.

Main responsibilities in this role:

  • Taking accountability for Change and Run outcomes, shifting the focus from stability alone towards optimization, productivity and efficiency uplift,
  • Driving transformation and moving the unit from steady delivery to sustained momentum together with Business stakeholders,
  • Leading and coaching leaders, building strong accountability, leadership capability, and a shared transformation mindset,
  • Challenging existing delivery models, cost structures, and ways of working to exceed business expectations,
  • Translating business and architectural priorities into concrete technology plans, solutions, transformation initiatives, OKRs, and measurable uplift targets,
  • Ensuring optimization, simplification and modernization initiatives deliver real, measurable gains in productivity and efficiency,
  • Ensuring architectural alignment and simplification, including technical debt reduction and modernization of the application landscape,
  • Proactively managing technology risks and dependencies, escalating and resolving issues at the right level.

Who you are

You are a senior technology leader with a strong engineering-led transformation mindset. You have a proven ability to shift organizations from stability-focused execution to momentum, scale and continuous uplift in complex, regulated environments. You push for better outcomes, higher efficiency and stronger business impact. You create momentum by engaging leaders, teams and stakeholders around a shared ambition.

Your background and skills include:

  • Experience in senior technology leadership roles,
  • Proven track record of driving transformation beyond steady-state delivery, enabling measurable optimisation, productivity and efficiency improvements,
  • Experience operating in complex organizations. Ability to shift organizations from run-focused execution to outcome and value-driven delivery,
  • Deep understanding of technology delivery, operational stability, risk management and modern engineering practices,
  • Strong understanding of architecture principles, target-state thinking and simplification,
  • Financial understanding, including budget ownership, cost drivers and total cost of ownership,
  • Excellent communication and influencing skills for senior-level engagement,
  • Business domain knowledge is welcome.

You will:

  • Operate in both strategic and operational contexts with broad accountability,
  • Shape and accelerate the transformation agenda with clear expectations to deliver measurable optimization, productivity and efficiency outcomes,
  • Be part of a strong leadership team across GFT,
  • Work on complex, high-impact topics critical to the bank's stability and long-term competitiveness,
  • Be supported by a collaborative, trust-based leadership culture.
