Product Owner - Cloud Landing Zone Services (Google Cloud)
Welcome to Group Technology, where we pride ourselves on engineering solutions and direct Nordea’s transformation by providing a holistic technological view and structured understanding of the bank, and its surrounding environment to enable the Customer Vision and the Business Strategy. We are looking for experienced and technically strong Product Owner to lead the evolution of Nordea's Cloud Landing Zone Services across Google Cloud.
Nordea is a place where traditions meet tomorrow. We're not just a bank, we're a tech employer on a mission to evolve finance securely and responsibly. Together, we impact millions of people’s daily lives by ensuring they can access our solutions anytime, anywhere, while safeguarding their personal data and wealth. Join us in making an impact on the banking industry.
About our team
Meet the Cloud Engineering team. Our role is to provide the secure and reliable cloud foundations that help Nordea deliver better digital services to customers and enable teams across the bank to build and run solutions efficiently.
What you'll be doing
This role combines Product Ownership with hands-on Cloud Engineering. You will be responsible for defining the product vision, strategy, roadmap, and priorities for your cloud platform while actively contributing to engineering activities such as Terraform development, pull request reviews, architecture design, and platform automation.
You will act as the bridge between business stakeholders, cloud consumers, architects, security teams, operations teams, and cloud engineers to ensure that Nordea's cloud platform services continuously deliver value, security, scalability, and operational excellence. Unlike a traditional Product Owner role focused solely on planning and prioritization, this position requires strong technical expertise and active participation in platform engineering delivery.
Main responsibilities in this role:
Product Ownership
- Own the roadmap and vision for Google Cloud,
- Prioritize platform capabilities balancing business demand, security, compliance and technical debt,
- Maintain and prioritize the product backlog in collaboration with Cloud PM,
- Define and track KPIs, adoption metrics, reliability targets and customer satisfaction,
- Present roadmap, risks and achievements to senior leadership and governance forums.
Cloud Engineering
- Actively contribute to Terraform and IaC development,
- Conduct code reviews and pull request approvals,
- Review and challenge technical designs and implementation approaches,
- Support engineering teams with solution design, troubleshooting and decisions,
- Contribute to CI/CD pipelines, platform standards and reusable modules,
- Ensure services meet Nordea's security, resilience and compliance requirements,
- Participate in major incident reviews and platform improvement initiatives.
Platform Strategy & Architecture
- Partner with Enterprise Architecture, Security, Risk, and Operations teams,
- Drive standardization and simplification of cloud platform services,
- Evolve the Landing Zone to support AI, Data, Kubernetes, Serverless and Developer Platforms,
- Engage with cloud vendor (Google Cloud) on roadmap alignment,
- Identify opportunities for optimization, automation and cost reduction.
Stakeholder Management
- Build relationships across engineering, application, security, architecture and business teams,
- Gather platform consumer feedback and translate it into roadmap priorities,
- Drive consensus and decision-making across multiple stakeholders,
- Represent Cloud Engineering in governance, transformation and audit activities.
Accountability
The Product Owner is accountable for:
- Product vision and roadmap,
- Product backlog prioritization,
- Platform adoption and customer satisfaction,
- Delivery of planned capabilities,
- Landing Zone engineering standards,
- Platform reliability and resilience,
- Security and compliance alignment,
- Technical quality of platform changes,
- Engineering governance and code review quality.
Who you are
Your background and skills include:
Experience
- 8+ years of Cloud Engineering experience,
- 3+ years of Product Owner, Platform Owner, Technical Lead, Lead Engineer, or Architect experience,
- Experience operating enterprise-scale cloud platforms,
- Experience working within Agile delivery models,
- Experience managing technical roadmaps and backlogs.
Technical Skills
Strong experience with:
- Terraform,
- Infrastructure as Code,
- GitHub or Git-based development workflows,
- Pull Request reviews,
- CI/CD pipelines,
- Cloud security controls,
- Kubernetes and container platforms,
- Networking and cloud connectivity,
- Identity and Access Management,
- Observability and monitoring tooling.
Leadership Skills
- Excellent stakeholder management,
- Strong communication and influencing skills,
- Strategic mindset with hands-on execution capability,
- Ability to challenge and drive decisions across senior stakeholders,
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
Success Measures
Success in this role will be measured by:
- Increased consumption of Landing Zone services,
- Delivery of roadmap commitments,
- Reduced platform operational risk,
- Improved developer experience,
- Faster onboarding of cloud workloads,
- Increased automation and self-service adoption,
- Reduced technical debt,
- Positive audit and compliance outcomes,
- Improved customer satisfaction scores,
- High engineering quality and code review standards.
What makes this role different?
This is not a traditional Product Owner position. We are looking for a technical Product Owner who can:
- Define strategy in the morning,
- Prioritize backlog items at lunch,
- Review Terraform pull requests in the afternoon,
- Challenge architectural decisions before the end of the day.
The successful candidate will operate as a product leader, cloud architect, and senior engineer, ensuring the Cloud Landing Zone remains a secure, scalable, and developer-friendly platform that accelerates Nordea's multi-cloud strategy.
