About this opportunity

Welcome to the Applications Engineering unit. We add value by enabling our Business Analysts to work on the most up-to-date datasets. As a BigData Applications Support Engineer, you will play a valuable role in keeping Nordea operational and transforming the ways of working. 


What you will be doing:

  • Providing L2/L3 Support, including 24x7 on-call duty
  • Deploying software changes in the production environment, often out of business hours
  • Liaising with other application supporters and internal/external business/technical partners
  • Escalating critical issues and proactively identifying patterns of recurring issues to improve production
  • Problem resolution and conducting root cause analysis and establishing processes that will help incident prevention


You’ll join a team of highly specialized and dedicated individuals working towards the same goal.


The role is based in Gdańsk/Gdynia.

To succeed in this role, we believe that you have:

  • Understanding of the BigData concepts, preferably have Hadoop hands-on experience
  • Experience with Linux environment (at least RHCSA - comparable level)
  • The ability to learn quickly
  • Communicative English (B2) - the recruitment process might be conducted in English


Your experience and background: 

  • Bash, Python, or any other scripting language experience is required
  • SQL databases background is a plus
  • DevOps automation tools knowledge is a plus (Ansible, Jenkins)
  • Amazon Web Services (AWS) experience is a plus
  • Grounding in Financial Service is a plus
  • Excellent communication skills and demonstrated ability in working with distributed global teams. Be able to work both independently and collaboratively with others on complex technical issues
