We are looking for an Application Database Expert to be a temporary member of our Digital Delivery engineering team to contribute to our engineering journey.

The position is located in Helsinki, Finland. This is a temporary position until August 2027.

 

About our team

 

Meet the Digital Delivery Engineering team. We are a team of dedicated and highly skilled specialists providing platform services to Nordea's Digital service area.

 

Main responsibilities in this role: 

  • Provide expert support to Digital application teams in SQL query design, optimisation, performance tuning, and troubleshooting. 
  • Design, implement, and maintain stored procedures for the Account Transaction Store. 
  • Support migration of application databases from on-premises databases to Google cloud platform (GCP) 
  • Manage and optimize cloud database resources for performance, reliability, and cost efficiency. 
  • Monitor database performance proactively and implement performance tuning strategies. 
  • Collaborate with Database experts, platform engineers, developers, and architects to improve applications and engineering practices.

 

Who you are

Your background and skills include:

  • 8+ years of experience working with enterprise database platforms and performance optimisation.
  • Strong expertise in at least one major database platform (DB2, Oracle, PostgreSQL).
  • Proficiency in writing stored procedures.
  • Ability to improve database Performance.
  • Scripting skills in Python, PowerShell, or Bash.
  • Eager to learn and to solve challenges.
  • Fluency in communicating in English.
