Would you like to work with acquisition financing and debt structuring and develop into a seasoned professional financier and partner for financial sponsors and corporates? We are looking for a for an Associate Director with drive and passion to join our team in Corporate Advisory, based in Helsinki. This is an opportunity for you to work with exciting deals and complex situations to build deep knowledge and experience of strategic transactions and structured debt financing solutions.
About our team
Meet the Corporate Advisory team in Nordea Business Banking Finland. We are experienced debt financing specialists and support the corporate customer business at Nordea. We act as deal managers in complex financing situations, primarily with origination and execution of debt financing for corporate customers in M&A situations and buyouts. We work both with private equity sponsors in leveraged buyouts (LBO), as well as with Nordea’s small and mid-cap corporate customers. We are a team composing of experienced professionals combined with capable analyst colleagues. We have a steady deal flow composing on large and small deals and are involved in a broad range of situations.

What you’ll be doing
Main responsibilities in this role:
- Develop strong working relationships with clients and proactively identify attractive transaction opportunities.
- Demonstrate profound understanding of the clients commercial and financial considerations to suggest appropriate debt structures for transactions.
- Evaluate and position credits as part of deal selection and credit processes, as well as define an appropriate financing structure and legal documentation to mitigate credit risks.
- Secure top quality execution of transactions as deal manager and strive for excellence by walking the extra mile to deliver in both quality and quantity. Particular focus given to the credit quality of the portfolio.
- Provide advice and financial analysis to top tier Business Banking customers regarding capital structure, funding sources or debt capacity.
Who you are
This is the right role for you if you have a strong drive to achieve results and enjoy a dynamic working environment with fluctuating work intensity. You have genuine interest in corporate business, industry dynamics and financing structures. You possess an analytical mindset and you are curious to learn more and probe for further information to gain greater understanding to make rational conclusions. You are able to team up and communicate seamlessly across functions and all levels in the organization. You have the ability to work both independently, as well as lead deal team performance against deadlines and milestones.
Your background and skills include:
- Master's/Bachelor's degree, preferably in finance, economics or accounting.
- Minimum of 4-8 years of relevant working experience from investment banking, private equity, financial/credit analysis, consultancy and/or similar.
- Prior experience of debt origination, credit analysis or credit risk management is required.
- High level capabilities in analysing companies, business models and financial models / financial statements.
- Fluent in written and spoken Finnish and English.
It would be ideal if you also:
- Have excellent skills in Excel, Powerpoint and financial modelling.
- Deep understanding of industry sectors and corporate business models.
- Any type of leadership experience would be viewed beneficial.
