Business Analyst for FX Business Technology
Helsinki, FI, 00500
Job ID: 5494
Foreign Exchange (FX), Electronic Trading, Market Business Technology
We are looking for a new colleague to join our FX Business Analyst team. This is a full-time permanent position for professionals who want to shape the future of FX trading technology using domain expertise and AI tools.
About our team
Meet the FX Business Technology team. Our role is to deliver and maintain the technology solutions that power Nordea's electronic FX trading platform, covering market access, liquidity aggregation, algorithmic trading, e-distribution, FX Sales tools and customer automation workflows.
Our team operates at the intersection of business and technology within Market Business Technology. We're based in Helsinki and Copenhagen, working closely with traders, sales teams, and technology specialists across the FX franchise. As we embrace AI-enabled development, we're evolving our team structure to create multi-dimensional roles where domain knowledge meets technical capability.
Collaboration. Ownership. Passion. Courage. These are the values that guide us in how we work and how we make decisions – and that we imagine you share with us.
Main responsibilities in this role:
- Domain-driven problem solving: Expand your FX knowledge and leverage it to identify opportunities, gather requirements, and architect solutions that address real business needs.
- Automation initiatives: Drive automation projects across the FX platform, including customer-facing solutions like AutoFX for customer automation, as well as internal workflow optimization using AI tools and modern development practices
- Vendor system management: Work with vendor platforms for market access, liquidity aggregation, order routing, algorithmic trading and customer facing FX platforms – understanding both the business workflows and technical integrations.
- End-to-end ownership: Have an operational mindset and take responsibility for solutions from conception through implementation, including documentation, testing, and knowledge sharing with the team.
- Systems thinking: Co-design solutions that fit within our broader architecture, considering scalability, maintainability, and alignment with enterprise standards.
- AI-assisted development: Use AI coding tools to design, develop, and implement solutions across our FX system landscape, bridging the gap between business requirements and technical delivery
Who you are
This is the right role for you if you are a multi-dimensional professional who thrives at the intersection of business and technology. You're excited about using AI to extend your capabilities – whether you're a tech-oriented Business Analyst ready to write code, or a business-minded Developer who values domain expertise. You understand that AI is a powerful tool, but you bring the judgment, context, and ownership that ensures quality outcomes.
You are:
- A systems thinker who can see both the big picture and dive into details when necessary.
- Comfortable with ambiguity and able to delegate effectively to AI tools without being a control-freak
- Quality-focused with a strong QA mindset and attention to detail
- Collaborative and inclusive, valuing teamwork and open to sharing ideas
- Proactive and adaptable, thriving in a dynamic, fast-paced trading environment
- Curious and self-driven, motivated by continuous learning and innovation
Your background and skills include:
- For tech-oriented Business Analysts moving into development:
- Proven experience in FX products or other financial markets, with strong understanding of business workflows
- Experience with vendor systems and business requirement gathering
- Basic coding knowledge or strong willingness to learn AI-assisted development
- Familiarity with system integrations and technical concepts
- For business-minded Developers expanding domain knowledge:
- Interest in or basic knowledge of FX products and financial markets
- Experience with APIs, system integrations, and software architecture
- Professional coding experience
- Willingness to engage deeply with business stakeholders and domain concepts
For all candidates:
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Financial Engineering, Computer Science, Economics, Mathematics, or similar
- Strong analytical skills and aptitude for complex problem-solving
- Excellent communication skills with both business and technology stakeholders
- Ability to write clear specifications and documentation
- Strong written and verbal communication skills in English (speaking a Nordic language is a plus)
It would be ideal if you also:
- Have experience with AI coding tools (GitHub Copilot, Cursor, or similar agentic coding platforms)
- Are familiar with modern development practices (Git, Artifactory, Docker, CI/CD, APIs)
- Have worked in agile environments with cross-functional teams
