About our team
Welcome to the Credit Risk Software development team in Credit Risk domain. Working with us, you will be part of one of the most important programs for the bank, which consists of upscaling Nordea’s credit risk models and frameworks for internal expected loss. You will cooperate closely with your colleagues across the bank, and you will have great possibilities to develop your skills within credit risk area – a field which is in high focus in Nordea.
This role is based in Finland and Poland, and applicants must have a valid work permit to work in Finland and Poland.
What you’ll be doing
- Work on end-to-end delivery and maintenance of credit risk and ECL model implementations, from requirements gathering and functional design through to production support.
- Perform strong data engineering: create functional designs, build with software engineering discipline, and govern data pipelines, database objects, and high-performance SQL queries (e.g., in Snowflake or similar platforms) to support credit risk analytics and reporting.
- Develop Python / SQL solutions for data validation, and automation.
- Leverage AI tools in daily work to accelerate analysis, improve quality, support documentation, and automate repetitive engineering tasks in a controlled and compliant way.
- Implement automation (testing, monitoring, data quality checks, and workflow orchestration) to increase reliability and reduce operational risk.
- Support and maintain existing credit risk data products, processes, and interfaces, ensuring stable operations and timely incident resolution.
- Develop and maintain metadata, data lineage, user access, and security controls in line with governance and regulatory expectations.
- Provide second-line technical support for users, investigate root causes, and implement sustainable fixes.
- Develop and maintain technical documentation, including data models, mappings, process flows, controls, and runbooks.
- Collaborate with stakeholders, and developers across the bank to deliver reliable and well-governed solutions.
To succeed in this role, we believe that you have:
- Minimum 4–5 years of experience in IT/data roles, including hands-on experience in the credit risk domain, with decent programming skills in Python and SQL and solid software engineering practices (testing, code reviews, version control).
- Strong SQL skills and experience building/optimizing data models and pipelines on modern data platforms (e.g., Snowflake or similar), including performance tuning and data quality controls.
- Experience working with credit risk models and/or model implementations (e.g., PD, LGD, EAD, IFRS 9 ECL), including understanding of data inputs, validation needs, and model governance.
- Practical experience leveraging AI tools in day-to-day engineering/analysis (e.g., for code assistance, documentation, test generation, and exploratory analysis) with good judgment around data confidentiality.
- Experience with orchestration and integration patterns (e.g., scheduling, APIs, and cloud platforms), and an understanding of operational aspects such as monitoring and incident handling.
- Experience in solutioning and architecting applications.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to work in a team environment.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to work under pressure.
