We are looking for an Senior Quant Developer to help drive the evolution of pricing, risk and data capabilities across Nordea Markets. The role combines quantitative application development, software engineering, and close collaboration with front-office users. Working alongside traders, sales professionals, and model developers, you will build production solutions with tangible business impact. 

 

About our team

 

Our Quant team is part of Markets Business Technology and is located  directly on the trading floors in Copenhagen and Helsinki. As we continue to grow our Quant hub in Helsinki, we are looking for a Senior Quant Developer to play a key role in the development of both the team and the solutions we deliver. 

 

We develop and support real-time pricing and risk tools used by Trading and Sales across several asset classes. Working closely with traders, sales professionals and model developers, we combine quantitative expertise, software engineering and business understanding to deliver robust, practical solutions.  

 

Our work spans data analysis, applying quantitative models, application development, software engineering and production support, with team members involved throughout the lifecycle of the solutions they build.

What you’ll be doing

 

Main responsibilities in this role: 

  • Own and enhance key pricing, risk and reporting tools used by Markets Trading and Sales.
  • Partner with traders, sales and technology teams to deliver quantitative solutions to business challenges.
  • Contribute to Python and/or Kotlin-based libraries containing core business logic of our quant platforms
  • Drive improvements to architecture, engineering practices and platform capabilities.
  • Support new and existing functionalities in production, including troubleshooting, continuous improvement and second-line support when needed. 

 

Who you are

 

This is the right role for you if you are a hands-on and experienced quantitative professional who enjoys working close to trading, sales and model developers and taking ownership of complex topics. You combine quantitative depth with a pragmatic mindset and have a genuine interest in both software development and financial derivatives. 

 

Your background and skills include: 

  • Advanced degree in Mathematics, Physics, Engineering, Quantitative Finance, Economics or a related field
  • Minimum three years of relevant experience in quantitative development, desk quant work, pricing, risk and financial products
  • Self-driven and proactive, with a proven ability to independently turn business requirements into robust solutions
  • Strong programming skills (Python and Kotlin/Java is an advantage)
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to build trust across quantitative, business and technology teams 

 

It would be ideal if you also: 

  • Have experience using AI in software development 
  • Have worked with curve construction or model calibration
