We are now looking for a Senior AI or ML Engineer to join our AI, Analytics and Automation unit. The role is based in Kaisaniemi, Helsinki. You’ll join the team with fellow data scientists, data analysts, software developer and DevOps engineer.

As a Senior AI / ML Engineer you’ll play a valuable role in designing and implementing state-of-the-art solutions by leveraging Large Language Models (LLM) and agent-based architecture. You collaborate closely with the business and from a solution perspective you’ll make the solution possible by combining business understanding, data science, and technology.

What you’ll be doing:

• Transform state-of-the-art research into robust, production-ready AI solutions
• Finetune domain-specific LLMs
• Collaborate with business stakeholders, architects, developers and other teams to solve real-life problems
• Help us build versatile AI development, deployment and other MLOps solutions to enable production-level AI and ML solution on cloud environment and sometimes in on-prem environment

Typically, AI solutions are evaluated based on prediction accuracy, but in our work that’s only one thing to consider. We have to consider solutions’ explainability, AI risks, model uncertainties and that the solution fits into customers’ processes. It is essential to understand and implement methods to evaluate your own work and others for bias, inaccuracy and error.

Our tech stack mainly consists of Python, SQL, AWS, vLLM, Docker, Bitbucket and Terraform.

We are looking for: 

• Solid experience in designing AI or ML solutions on AWS cloud
• Proficient with Python, Docker and modern ML workflows and libraries
• Hands-on experience with vLLM, PyTorch and Transformers
• Familiarity with Linux and Kubernetes basics
• Awareness of data privacy, GDPR, security and ethical considerations when handling sensitive data with AI solutions
• Fluent in English and capability to handle work-related discussions with business stakeholders in Finnish
• Education background: PhD or Master’s in Mathematics, Operations Research, Statistics, Computer Science or a related field

It would be beneficial if you know/have: 

• Prior experience with medical, health or insurance domain
• Experience with deployment in isolated and air-gapped environments
• Experience with open-source agent frameworks (OpenAI Agents SDK, Google ADK, LangGraph), or with function calling and tool use.
• Knowledge of self-hosting LLMs, including performance tuning, caching, and cost optimization
• You are familiar with modern DevOps or MLOps best practices and tools

This role is in Helsinki and we follow hybrid model of working (40 % remote).
