Senior IT Analyst - Securities Trading Operations (Calypso)

Helsinki, FI, 00500

Job ID: 4581

Do you want to build solutions that keep the Nordic securities markets moving? We are looking for a Senior Calypso Engineer to join one of our teams working on the Calypso platform, supporting securities settlement and post-trade processing at Nordea.

In this role you will take end-to-end ownership: understand business requirements, design the solution, configure Calypso and (when needed) develop supporting components and integrations. You may be stronger in some parts of that flow than others, but you enjoy learning and growing with the team—especially as new AI tools continue to reshape how we build and deliver software.

Welcome to Group Technology, where we pride ourselves on engineering solutions and direct Nordea’s transformation by providing a holistic technological view and structured understanding of the bank, and its surrounding environment to enable the Customer Vision and the Business Strategy.

About our team

Welcome to Securities Trading Operations. We are on an exciting journey, modernising our post-trade landscape and moving trade flows from local systems onto a common Nordic settlement solution.
We are looking for an engineer to join one of our experienced implementation teams working with Calypso.

Post-trade is one of the most dynamic areas in financial markets right now, driven by industry changes such as T+1 settlement, ongoing market infrastructure convergence (including Euronext initiatives) and broader consolidation in Europe. This creates a unique opportunity to work close to the heart of market change and help make European markets more efficient and competitive globally.

As a senior engineer, you’ll be a key member of the team—working closely with business stakeholders, architects and developers. You will help turn needs into solutions that are robust, performant and maintainable, and you will contribute hands-on through Calypso configuration and development.

What you’ll be doing:

  • Work with business stakeholders to understand requirements, clarify priorities and define a clear scope for delivery
  • Design solutions together with the team and document decisions so they are easy to understand, maintain and evolve
  • Implement changes through Calypso configuration and, when needed, development (e.g., Java, integrations and automation)
  • Plan and execute functional testing/UAT with stakeholders, and continuously improve quality and test automation where possible
  • Troubleshoot and resolve production issues, drive root-cause analysis and implement improvements to prevent recurrence

You’ll join an experienced and very supportive team. This gives a unique opportunity to learn new things frequently. We welcome applicants from Finland. This role is based in Helsinki and we follow hybrid model of working.

Who you are

To succeed in this role, we believe that you:

  • Are motivated by taking ownership and getting things done—together with others
  • Are self-driven and structured, and enjoy learning new domains and tools (including AI-assisted ways of working)
  • Take responsibility for outcomes and quality, and follow through until the solution works in production
  • Have strong interpersonal skills—able to speak to people, align stakeholders and coordinate when needed
  • Enjoy working in a collaborative team
  • Are analytical and solution-oriented, and enjoy breaking down complex problems into practical next steps
  • Enjoy working in a collaborative team and sharing knowledge

Studies show that some candidates only apply when they tick every box. If that sounds like you, we encourage you to apply anyway—your experience may be a great match in ways you might not expect.

You will work with the Calypso platform and support the implementation of securities settlement functionality. If you already have Calypso experience—great. If not, we believe you can learn it with the right mindset and relevant engineering background.

Your experience and background:

  • Relevant experience from financial markets and/or post-trade (securities settlement) is an advantage
  • Experience combining analysis, solution design and hands-on implementation
  • Hands-on experience delivering changes in an IT development setup (agile or hybrid), from idea to production
  • Ability to understand system architecture and make sound design choices balancing functionality, performance and maintainability
