Senior IT Developer - AI & Automation (Group Finance)
Helsinki, FI, 00500
Job ID: 3339
About this opportunity
We are looking for a Senior IT Developer to join the AI & Automation team in Group Finance, where we build AI and automation solutions that support Nordea’s financial steering and regulatory commitments. The solutions support areas like capital and liquidity management, risk control, regulatory reporting, and the broader Group Finance value chain.
Our mission is simple: use modern technology to make Finance more accurate and efficient. As a senior IT developer, you will play a key role in shaping, designing, and delivering solutions that directly influence how Group Finance works, makes decisions, and prepares for the future.
What you’ll be doing
In this role, you will take ownership of end-to-end technical delivery:
- Design and develop AI and automation solutions on Nordea’s enterprise platforms, including both established and next-generation AI & automation capabilities
- Explore current processes and co-design future-state solutions with subject matter experts.
- Engineer high-quality Python code and build maintainable, testable components aligned with best practices and enterprise standards
- Integrate solutions into CI/CD pipelines with proper monitoring, testing, observability, and documentation.
- Drive the technical roadmap for AI & Automation, introducing new tools, methods, and technologies that help modernise Finance.
- Collaborate closely with analysts, data experts and other developers in Group Finance and Technology.
You will join a team of six, located across the Nordics and in Poland with a diverse skillset. The role is based in Helsinki, Finland.
Who you are
You are an experienced engineer with a passion for solving real business problems through technology. You combine solid technical skills with curiosity, ownership, and the ability to work independently on complex topics.
To succeed in this role, we believe that you:
- Are self-driven and able to work independently, but also have keen interest and ability on sharing knowledge with others
- Are structured, proactive, and take responsibility for delivering high‑quality solutions.
- Are curious, focus on solutions rather than problems, and share our enthusiasm for developing and learning
Your experience and background:
- Master's degree in computer science, finance, economics, engineering, statistics or equivalent
- Strong technical skills with at least 5 years of experience in Python programming on an enterprise level
- Experience designing and maintaining production-grade systems
- Interest in using and developing AI in a regulated environment
- Strong communication skills and project/stakeholder management experience
- A growth mindset and willingness to learn
It would be also ideal if you would have experience in:
- Cloud‑based development, orchestration, or containerized environments
- ML models and bespoke AI development
