Helsinki, FI, 00500

Job ID: 5743

Welcome to Group Technology, where we pride ourselves on engineering solutions and direct Nordea’s transformation by providing a holistic technological view and structured understanding of the bank, and its surrounding environment to enable the Customer Vision and the Business Strategy.

We are looking for a Senior IT Operations Engineer with a strong DevOps profile to join our Trading Data Warehouse & BI team, with a primary focus on Snowflake data warehouse operations. This is a hands-on engineering role for someone who wants to improve how data warehousing solutions are built, deployed, automated, monitored, and operated.

We would like to work with someone who has ownership to drive, and smartly use AI tools to evolve and advance the current process.

Together, we impact millions of people’s daily lives by ensuring they can access our solutions anytime, anywhere, while safeguarding their personal data and wealth. Join us in making an impact on the banking industry.

  • Build reusable scripts, tools, and platform capabilities using Python, SQL, Ansible, and related technologies to make delivery faster, safer, and more consistent
  • Improve configuration management and environment consistency, turning fragile or inefficient processes into repeatable, documented, and automated solutions

Monitoring & Operations:

  • Establish and optimize monitoring, alerting, and logging tools for the data warehouse to support reliable data flows across ingestion, transformation, and consumption
  • Support troubleshooting and incident resolution for critical data processes

Collaboration & Continuous Improvement:

You do not wait for every detail to be specified — you investigate, propose improvements, and take ownership of making things work better. You have strong learning mindset and ability to adapt across technologies and responsibilities.

  • Proficiency in SQL and database design, with experience in performance tuning and query optimization in Snowflake
  • Good Python skills (or other scripting languages like Shell) for automation, tooling, testing, and operational utilities
  • Experience with Kafka, Kubernetes, Git, and Ansible (or similar technologies)
  • Understanding of data pipelines, data warehousing concepts, data integration, and ETL/ELT processes
  • Experience in monitoring, incident handling, and documentation creation (operational runbooks, standard processes, architecture)
  • Strong problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and excellent communication and collaboration skills
  • 4+ years of experience in DevOps, platform engineering, data engineering, or similar technical roles with strong practical experience in automation, scripting, configuration management, and deployment
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field, or equivalent practical experience

It would be ideal if you also:

  • Certification in Snowflake or related technologies
  • Experience with data visualization tools (e.g., Power BI) and understanding of data governance and compliance standards
  • Curiosity about AI-assisted engineering and willingness to use AI as a practical productivity tool
