Senior Project Leader – Google Cloud AI Transformation (permanent position)

Welcome to Group Technology, where we pride ourselves on engineering solutions and direct Nordea’s transformation by providing a holistic technological view and structured understanding of the bank, and its surrounding environment to enable the Customer Vision and the Business Strategy.

Core Technology Change & Delivery is seeking an experienced Senior Project Leader to drive strategic AI and cloud transformation initiatives on Google Cloud Platform (GCP). You will lead complex, cross-functional delivery across cloud foundations, AI platform capabilities, security, data and engineering.

You will translate strategic AI and cloud ambitions into executable plans, coordinate dependencies across technology domains, and help establish secure, governed and reusable capabilities that enable AI adoption at scale. The role combines hands-on project leadership with strong governance, stakeholder management and delivery discipline.

Together, we impact millions of people’s daily lives by ensuring they can access our solutions anytime, anywhere, while safeguarding their personal data and wealth. Join us in making an impact on the banking industry.

About our team

Meet the Core Technology Change & Delivery Team.  We are responsible for project and programme management, execution and governance of technology change initiatives. We work across business and technology teams to ensure that strategic commitments are delivered predictably, transparently and in line with the Core Technology Operating Model and Nordea Delivery Guide.

What you'll be doing

Main responsibilities in this role:

  • Lead end-to-end delivery of GCP-based AI and cloud transformation initiatives, from planning through implementation and closure.
  • Translate AI and Google Cloud platform roadmaps into clear delivery plans, milestones and measurable outcomes.
  • Coordinate dependencies across architecture, cloud engineering, security, identity and access management, network, data, platform and business teams.
  • Drive delivery of shared, reusable AI platform capabilities that support scalable onboarding of use cases and teams.
  • Plan and manage scope, timelines, resources, financials, risks, issues and dependencies.
  • Establish effective programme governance, decision forums and reporting for senior stakeholders.
  • Ensure compliance with enterprise architecture, security, regulatory, resilience and operational requirements.
  • Support the development of a sustainable cloud operating model, including platform ownership, service management, cost transparency and operational readiness.
  • Monitor progress, proactively resolve delivery obstacles and escalate issues when needed to maintain predictable execution.
  • Promote a strong delivery culture based on ownership, transparency, collaboration and continuous improvement.

Who you are

This is the right role for you if: you are a self-driven and solution-oriented project leader who can create structure in a complex environment. You combine delivery discipline with curiosity about AI and cloud technologies, communicate clearly with technical and senior stakeholders, and are comfortable challenging assumptions and driving decisions.

Your background and skills include:

  • Proven track record of leading complex technology projects or programmes in cloud, data or AI environments.
  • Experience coordinating delivery of Google Cloud initiatives and managing dependencies across multiple technology domains.
  • Good understanding of Google Cloud Platform services, cloud foundations and cloud operating model principles.
  • Experience supporting delivery of AI platforms, machine learning, analytics, data platforms or cloud transformation initiatives.
  • Ability to translate strategic roadmaps into executable plans, milestones and delivery priorities.
  • Strong project management skills across planning, governance, risks, issues, dependencies, resources and financials.
  • Experience establishing governance structures, facilitating steering forums and ensuring compliance with organisational standards.
  • Ability to work effectively with architects, engineers, platform teams, security specialists, data teams and business stakeholders.
  • Understanding of platform-oriented delivery models, including shared services, reusable components, automated onboarding and self-service capabilities.
  • Understanding of cloud security, resilience, scalability, operational readiness and cost-management principles.
  • Genuine interest in AI technologies, including generative AI, large language models, agentic workflows and emerging cloud-based capabilities.
  • Strong stakeholder management and communication skills, including the ability to engage senior leaders and influence cross-functional teams.
  • Strong analytical skills and attention to detail, with the ability to turn complex information into clear and actionable insights.
  • Good financial and resource management skills.
  • Advanced presentation and reporting skills, particularly using PowerPoint and Excel.
  • Excellent English skills, both spoken and written.
  • A collaborative, pragmatic and proactive can-do attitude.
