Senior Solution & Data Architect

Helsinki, FI, 00500

Job ID: 6939

Join Nordea Technology Payment Data & Reporting and play a key role in evolving the technology architecture that enables business growth, digital transformation and operational excellence.

As a Senior Solution & Data Architect, you will design how solutions actually work. You will translate business needs into concrete application, integration and data architectures and work alongside Product Owners and engineering teams from early shaping through implementation. You will make architectural decisions, challenge unnecessary complexity and help teams build solutions that are secure, scalable, reusable and fit for the future.

About our team

Welcome to Data & Reporting, where we build solutions for the payment domain that help deliver on Nordea's strategic ambitions. You will join an architecture team with significant freedom to operate, where taking ownership is a core expectation.

Payment Technology is increasingly adopting AI across our delivery teams and solutions. Architecture plays an important role in bringing together business, technology, security and architectural requirements. In parallel, we are modernising our technology landscape by adopting cloud and modern tooling to create a more scalable, agile and resilient foundation for our product organisation. As part of our architecture community, you will work closely with business, EA architects, engineering teams and technology specialists across the organization to shape solutions that balance business value, technical excellence and long-term sustainability.

Collaboration. Ownership. Passion. Courage. These are the values that guide how we work and make decisions, and we hope you share them with us.

What you’ll be doing:

  • Shape end-to-end solution and data architectures across applications, APIs, integrations, data and infrastructure.
  • Work with Product Owners and business stakeholders early in the shaping of initiatives, before key technology decisions are locked in.
  • Translate business needs into concrete technical designs and architecture decisions.
  • Work closely with lead developers and engineering teams throughout implementation turning architectural decisions into working solutions.
  • Define and evolve architecture roadmaps, target states, standards, principles and reusable patterns.
  • Challenge unnecessary complexity and actively drive simplification, reuse and modernisation.
  • Ensure solutions address security, resilience, scalability and regulatory requirements.
  • Explain, challenge and defend architecture decisions with both technical specialists and business stakeholders.
  • Build alignment across Product Owners, engineering teams, architects and other stakeholders.
  • Maintain architectural ownership from early shaping through delivery, with a strong focus on delivered business value.

Who you are

You combine strong solution architecture skills with a solid understanding of data architecture and a pragmatic delivery mindset. You are comfortable moving between business discussions, architecture decisions and technical conversations with engineering teams. You challenge existing thinking when needed, explain complex decisions in simple language and bring people together around a common direction.

You have:

  • Strong experience designing end-to-end solution architectures in complex technology environments.
  • Experience designing across applications, APIs, integrations, data and infrastructure.
  • Good understanding of data architecture, data modelling, data flows and integration patterns.
  • Experience working closely with software engineers and delivery teams during implementation, not only during initial design.
  • Understanding of cloud architecture, security, resilience, scalability and modern software engineering practices.
  • Strong stakeholder management and influencing capabilities.
  • Ability to explain and defend architectural decisions with both technical and business stakeholders.
  • A pragmatic mindset focused on simplicity, reuse and delivered value.

It would be ideal if you also have:

  • Experience from payments, banking, financial services or another regulated industry.
  • Experience working within large enterprises and technology landscapes.
  • Knowledge of cloud platforms, modern software engineering practices and technology modernization.

What we offer

  • Significant influence on the future architecture of Payment Data & Reporting.
  • The opportunity to shape solutions from early business ideas through implementation.
  • A key role in modernising a complex payment, technology and data landscape.
  • The opportunity to influence how we use cloud, data and AI in our future solutions.
  • A highly collaborative environment spanning architecture, engineering, product and business.
