We are looking for a new Senior Strategy Partner to play a key role in shaping the future strategic agenda of Nordea Group by driving development of strategic direction and implementation. This is an opportunity to grow and work closely with the CEO and rest of the Executive Group Leadership Team (GLT).

The Group Strategy Office (GSO) helps to shape the bank’s future by defining the Group’s strategic priorities, leading the development of Group and Unit level strategies throughout the year, driving priority strategic initiatives and collaborating with Business Area, Technology and Group Function teams to develop and follow-up on Unit-level strategies and execution.

What you’ll be doing: 

  • Group Strategic Planning & Direction: Lead the development and execution of  long-term strategy for the Group, ensuring high ambition and aligning with customer trends, changes in the market and competitive environment, in collaboration with the CEO and Group Leadership Team
  • Business Area and Functional Strategies: Set the Group-wide strategy development process and drive the discussions with Business Area, Function, and Technology teams to guide formulation of Business Area and Functional strategies that are aligned with Group’s strategic direction, and lead towards execution and measurable value creation
  • Group-level Strategic Initiatives: Steer large strategic initiatives in the Group by setting standards for program steering and follow-up, collaborate with the streams to develop plans and follow-up on progress, and ensure proper steer from CEO and Group Leadership Team
  • Strategy Execution: Establish KPIs for the Group, set the frame for tracking execution of strategic initiatives across the Group, track performance to measure success and inform on needs to adjust strategies and propose deviating actions
  • Thought Leadership: Provide perspectives and strategic advisory to Group Leadership Team and stakeholders across the bank - building on insights to make a high quality strategic decision

 

You will support in leading and mentoring a high-performing strategy team fostering a culture of drive, collaboration, ownership, and curiosity. You will be a senior lead in a team of 5-6 individuals with strong credentials in strategy development (from leadership positions in financial services, top tier management consultancies and the biggest Nordic companies).

 

You will report to Marianne Laakeristo, Head of Nordea Group Strategy. The role can be based in Helsinki or in Copenhagen.

 

Who you are
 

This is the right role for you if you have:

  • Proven Strategic Leadership: Demonstrated capabilities in strategic planning and execution, corporate development and change management. Experience in strategy development and implementation with a proven ability to formulate and execute on strategies that drive superior value creation. E.g. Leader position in top-tier management consultancies, strategy functions in financial institutions, or leading multinational companies 
  • Problem solving & insight: Mastering of data-driven problem solving and analytical skills, from structuring problems, to data analysis, financial modelling and market & competitive analysis, to developing the insight and devising a solution
  • Adaptability  & Innovation: Ability to thrive in unstructured, fast paced environment and to turn complex problems and insights from analysis into a solution with limited guidance
  • Experience from Financial Services as an advantage: Previous experience from the financial services industry, either through one or several of the segments (personal, SME, large corporates, wealth management) or products is seen as an advantage
  • Leadership & collaboration: Effective leadership skills and ability to partner with the Group Leadership Team and Business Area teams, demonstrated by experience from working at CxO or division management level of large and complex organisations  to inform strategic decision-making. Cross-functional orchestration and stakeholder management are core components for success 
  • Executive communication: Strong skills in executive communication (oral, written and visual), ability to summarise complex topics into simple messages that call for action– in particular, being able to communicate to senior executives and bridge across both business and technology
  • Technology & Data acumen: Familiarity with trends in Technology, data, FinTech's and experience from working with the technology change agenda

 

The team and company working language is English – we expect fluency in English at professional level, while Nordic languages are a plus but not a requirement.
