Join our AI, Analytics and Automation unit in central Helsinki. We're looking for a Senior/Lead Data & Analytics Engineer to work hands-on with data pipelines, BI dashboards, and analytics solutions while taking ownership of technical decisions and ensuring quality data reaches our business stakeholders.
At Nordea, we see that the world is changing fast – and we want to be one step ahead of the curve. That’s why we’re deeply committed to providing the financial solutions of tomorrow to our customers. We’re creating an agile environment where we experiment and grow together – and we need your ideas and unique background. With us, you’ll be in good company with a chance to make your mark on something bigger.
About this opportunity
Welcome to Nordea Life! We add value by providing our customers suitable products to various life situations in savings and personal insurance area. Nordea Life is a small, tight-knit and award-winning company. We have won the Finnish Quality Award in 2020 and have been recognized multiple times as Finland's best financial sector workplace by Great Place to Work. Quality is not a project; it is part of how we think. We believe in doing things properly, improving continuously, and keeping structures light so people can focus on meaningful work.
We are now looking for a Senior/Lead Data&Analytics Engineer to join our AI, Analytics and Automation unit. You'll work across two teams:
- Analytics team (2 analysts focused on BI and reporting)
- Data engineering team (1 on-site and 4 off-shore data engineers)
As a Senior/Lead Data & Analytics Engineer, you'll be hands-on first – building solutions, making technical decisions, and ensuring data quality and integrity across both teams. You'll own the technical direction for QlikSense implementation, data pipelines, and analytics execution. You'll also coordinate work priorities and backlog management across both the Analytics team and Data Engineering team, ensuring business needs flow smoothly between teams and stakeholders stay informed of deliveries.
This role combines technical depth with execution. You'll spend most of your time coding, building, and solving problems, while also guiding our data modernization journey. Our current stack is foundational (Python, SQL, Informatica, QlikSense), and we're looking for someone who can help us evolve toward modern data practices and bring fresh perspectives we don't already have. You'll facilitate execution across two teams without heavy ceremonial overhead – focus is on getting the right work done. If you thrive on making an impact through hands-on work and technical ownership, this is the role for you.
Hands-on technical work (60-70% of your time):
- Design and implement QlikSense data models, visualizations, and development standards
- Own data quality, integrity, and validation – investigate issues and perform root-cause analysis
- Make architectural and implementation decisions in collaboration with the database application owner and application provider
- Coach team members and ensure consultants follow best practices
Coordination and execution management (30-40% of your time):
- Manage intake and prioritization of business needs across Analytics and Data Engineering teams
- Ensure business requests and bug fixes flow between teams and get actioned – keep stakeholders informed
- Advocate for data-driven decisions and bring data expertise to cross-functional discussions
- Participate in PI planning and sprint activities – focused on execution, not ceremony
Our tech stack consists of QlikSense, SQL, Python and Informatica in a hybrid environment.
The role is based in Kaisaniemi, Helsinki.
Who you are
Collaboration. Ownership. Passion. Courage. These are the values that guide us in being at our best – and that we imagine you share with us.
Here are some practical things that would definitely help you succeed in this job:

- Solid understanding of data pipelines, ETL/ELT patterns, and data modeling
- Strong focus on data quality, correctness, and integrity – you validate, reconcile, and investigate issues
- Experience working across business and IT, translating needs into technical solutions
- Conversational skills in Finnish and fluent in English
- Your education background: Master’s in a related field
It would be beneficial if you have/know:
- Proven track record of making technical decisions and owning them – not just facilitating
