About our team
Welcome to the Smart Payments team, which is part of the Nordic Instant Payments Technology Service Domain. Our role is to create and run some of the payment solutions of the future.
Our current focus is on request2pay (RTP) and Verification of Payee (VOP) solutions. RTP is an innovative and customer-friendly way to collect payments from our customers. VOP ensures our customers stay safe by checking and informing who they will be paying, giving them the choice to continue the payment or not.
What you’ll be doing
- Your primary objective will be designing the request2pay (RTP) and Verification of Payee (VOP) solutions of the future, focussing on Solution Architecture.
- Designing comprehensive architectural plans and solutions that address specific business problems or requirements and that are aligned with the Nordea´s target architectures
- Ensuring alignment with standards and drive architecturally significant decisions
- Creating architectural governance documents
- Explaining architectural plans to key stakeholders (e.g. developers, analysts and business experts)
- Ensuring understanding of the important factors for Business and IT within own areas and to drive consensus among stakeholders on the trade-offs required.
- Covering elements of Data, Information and Security Architecture
- Proactively participating and supporting to develop, guide and govern standards, principles and best practices to better achieve organisational objectives.
- Collaborating closely with other Solution Architects, Enterprise Architects, Business and IT experts

So, the person we are looking for, is an outgoing individual, who creates, understands and communicates solutions at the right level of detail and who is self-motivated and contributes to a good team spirit.
To succeed in this role, we believe that you:
- Have strong skills and experience in IT Solution Architecture and Technical Architecture
- Take ownership with a mindset of “making things happen”
- Have good communication skills and the ability to explain technical context to both a business and a technical audience
- Have a structured and organised way of working with the ability to deliver results with high quality
- Have an honest and problem-solving attitude
Your background and skills include:
- At least 7+ years of Solution architect experience and 15+ years of experience in IT, including strong technical integration experience
- Experience with Payments for at least 5+ years
- Knowledge and hands-on experience on creating architectures plans, designs and governance documents
- Practical knowledge of Architecture patterns and styles and knowledge how to design robust, scalable and maintainable solutions
- Practical knowledge of how to use AI to improve your and the team productivity
- Background as developer (e.g. Java) and knowledge of Software development concepts
- Proven skills to be able to work and lead in global multicultural organisation
- Fluent in English, both written and spoken
It would be ideal if you also have…
- Previous experience working with BizDevOps teams in Agile/Scrum methodology
- Direct experience of Request2Pay or Verification/Confirmation of Payee solutions
- Enterprise Architecture experience
