Strategic Partner to Group Strategy Office

Helsinki, FI, 500 København S, DK, 2300

Job ID: 31773

We are looking for two new Strategic Partners to play a key role in shaping the future strategic agenda of Nordea Group by driving development of strategic direction and implementation. This is an opportunity to grow and work closely with the CEO and rest of the Group Leadership Team (GLT).

At Nordea, we see that the world is changing fast – and we want to be one step ahead of the curve.

Nordea is a universal bank with a 200-year history of supporting and growing the Nordic economies. We are the largest bank in the Nordics and the most valuable company in the Helsinki Stock Exchange. Nordea is a globally leading digital bank supporting great customer experiences, investing significantly in technology. Nordea’s ambitious development agenda has been recognised externally as Nordea’s CEO Frank Vang-Jensen was named as Finland’s Transformation Leader of the Year in 2023.

About our team

The Group Strategy Office (GSO) helps to shape the bank’s future by  defining the Group’s strategic priorities, leading the development of Group and Unit level strategies throughout the year, driving priority strategic initiatives and  collaborating  with Business Area, Technology and Group Function teams to develop and follow-up on Unit-level strategies and execution.

This is an opportunity to join an exceptional team at the heart of the strongest bank in the Nordics. This role offers a steep learning curve in a team working closely with Nordea’s top management. You’ll take part in projects that define Nordea’s long-term direction, analyse key trends, and support strategic decision-making at the highest level.

What you will be doing:

  • Strategic analysis & planning: Support the development of Nordea’s long-term strategy by analysing market, customer and competitor trends, and translating insights into actionable recommendations for the CEO and Group Leadership Team
  • Business Area and Functional Strategy support: Collaborate with Business Area, Group Function, and Technology teams to guide and structure strategy development, ensuring alignment with Group priorities
  • Strategic Initiatives: Contribute to the design, scoping, and follow-up of high-impact strategic initiatives, supporting senior leaders in execution and tracking progress
  • Performance and execution follow-up: Build analytical frameworks and KPIs to track the success of strategic initiatives, and identify areas for adjustment or acceleration
  • Executive communication:  Develop materials for strategic discussions and decision-making, including presentations to the CEO and Group Leadership Team

You will work in an experienced and ambitious team with backgrounds from top-tier consultancies and leading Nordic corporates, providing exposure, mentorship, and the opportunity to grow rapidly as a strategy professional. The role can be based in Helsinki or Copenhagen.

Who you are

You are driven by curiosity, problem solving, and making an impact. You enjoy working in fast-paced, unstructured environments and are motivated by turning complex analysis into clear insights and actions.

Your background and skills include:

  • Proven track record: Demonstrated capabilities from strategic planning and execution, business development or corporate development roles, ideally with 2-5 years of experience from top-tier management consultancies, strategy functions in financial institutions, or leading multinational companies
  • Problem solving & insight: Proven ability to structure and solve strategic problems, including financial and market analysis, hypothesis-driven problem solving, and creativity in synthesizing analyses into recommendations. Strong quantitative and qualitative analytical skills with attention to detail and rigour
  • Experience from Financial Services: Familiarity with financial services, technology, or digital business models is an advantage
  • Leadership & collaboration: Collaborative, proactive, and comfortable working with senior stakeholders in a complex environment, structuring and leading own areas of responsibility and leading collaboration with Business Area teams
  • Executive communication: Strong communication and presentation skills, with the ability to develop concise, insightful materials and summarise complex topics into simple messages for senior audiences

The team and company working language is English – we expect fluency in English at a professional level, while Nordic languages are a plus but not a requirement.

What we offer

  • Working closely with senior leaders on some of the most important topics shaping Nordea’s future
  • Being part of a collaborative, high-performing team with diverse backgrounds and strong mentoring culture
  • A unique opportunity to build your career at the intersection of strategy, finance, and transformation in the leading Nordic bank
