We are looking for a Team Lead, Expert NBA Data Scientist to join our MarTech & Sales Technology department in Helsinki. In this role, you will help shape how Nordea uses data science, machine learning and decisioning to identify the most relevant next best action for each customer in real time. You will own the analytics, learning and optimization approach for NBA, ensuring that models, data and experimentation improve decision performance and create measurable customer and business impact.

About our team
Meet the core Next Best Action (NBA) team. Our mission is to build, govern and scale Nordea’s NBA capability as a Nordic-wide decisioning foundation, enabling relevant, data-driven and personalized customer interactions across markets, business areas and channels. We own the common decisioning frameworks, data and intelligence foundations, governance and platform enablement.
What you’ll be doing
In this role, your main responsibilities will be to:
- Shape and evolve the NBA modelling strategy to enable Nordea’s segment-of-one vision, leveraging Pega CDH adaptive models, custom ML models and external analytical signals
- Build, deploy and continuously optimize predictive models for customer engagement, conversion, retention, customer value and recommendations
- Translate business objectives into decision strategies by combining predictive models, business rules, customer context and value signals
- Lead experimentation and measurement through A/B testing, champion/challenger approaches, control groups and uplift analysis, linking outcomes to business and customer KPIs
- Drive the use of customer, behavioural, transactional and digital data for predictive modelling, ensuring data quality, governance and responsible AI practices
- Monitor and improve model performance driving continuous improvement and optimization.
- Collaborate across decisioning, data, engineering, product and business teams to operationalize models using modern development practices and AI-assisted tooling
In short, leverage AI-assisted development tools to improve productivity and quality, while translating business objectives into decisioning models and collaborating with Lead Decisioning Experts to embed them into NBA strategies and arbitration logic.

Ideally, your background and skills include:
- A relevant academic background in a quantitative field such as data analytics, business analytics, economics, finance, engineering or computer science.
- Python & ML development: Advanced programming skills and experience building custom ML models
- Recommendation engines, personalization platforms or customer decisioning platforms.
- Combining multiple models, signals and rules to support customer-level decisions.
- Customer Lifetime Value (CLV), churn prediction, retention optimization or product adoption modelling.
- Pega Customer Decision Hub (CDH), adaptive decisioning or similar enterprise decisioning technologies.
- Real-time and batch decisioning concepts, including latency, data availability and performance trade-offs.
- Model governance, explainability, monitoring and responsible AI practices.
- Agile ways of working and modern development practices such as version control, testing, reproducibility and experimentation tracking.
- AI-assisted development tools such as GitHub Copilot, Claude or similar.
