The FX (Foreign Exchange) & Liquidity Trading unit is looking for candidates with a quantitative mindset, and skills in mathematical modelling and software implementation to join a tightly knit foreign exchange trading team. You will be at the very forefront of electronic dealing, where technology meets conventional trading. The position involves ownership/management of risk and is quantitative in nature.

About this opportunity

Welcome to the Systematic Market Making & Automation team. We have a scientific approach to trading foreign exchange, and we're looking for an additional teammate in order to create the next generation algorithmic FX trading platform for Nordea. The team consists of quants, FX traders and software developers, with backgrounds in physics, math, engineering and finance. We offer a position in the best and most sophisticated electronic foreign exchange team in the Nordics. The role is based in Copenhagen.
What you’ll be doing:

  • Driving the electronification and automation of the FX spot and forward areas,
  • Developing, implementing and maintaining market making models used for automated pricing and risk management of our flow book(s),
  • Contributing to end-to-end research and implementation of our electronic risk acquisition and disbursal strategies, including idea generation, data collection and cleaning, model development, evaluation, and improvement,
  • Monitoring available liquidity from partners and the wider market, and assisting in maintaining access to the liquidity as well as develop new relationships,
  • Market impact estimation, understanding drivers of trading costs and optimizing trading algorithms to mitigate the impact from those drivers,
  • Constructing rigorous and innovative research to understand execution performance and market microstructure behaviours in the exciting FX Markets.

Your experience and background: 

  • Master’s degree with excellent academics in a quantitative/numerical area e.g. math, physics, quant finance or data science. The areas mentioned is a not a criteria and can be bridged with keen interest, ambition and strong programming skills - preferably in Java and/or Python,
  • You are comfortable in taking ownership to optimize more than your immediate area of responsibility, have a natural drive and curiousness for continuous learning, eagerness to make a difference in the absolute front line, where your input will be measured and evaluated on a daily basis,
  • Ideally, you have a few years of experience within FX or any other electronically traded asset classes from either trading or quant/development side. Candidates with less experience are also encouraged to apply; most importantly: You carry an open mindset and an eagerness to learn.
