About this opportunity
Welcome to the Retail Payments. We add value by setting the commercial direction for consumer cards, wallets and account-to-account payments and enabling seamless everyday payments to Nordea’s personal banking and private banking customers throughout the Nordics. You will be part of a Nordic team, Retail Payments in Transaction Banking and report to the Head of Retail Payments. Transaction Banking is a Product Responsible Unit with approx. 750 employees in the Nordics, Estonia and Poland. Transaction Banking is responsible for setting the strategic direction and execution of strategic initiatives for Nordea’s Payments offering and products, including Cash Management, Cards and Trade. Payments sit at the very heart of our strategy – and this role puts you right where the action is.
Cards and the consumer payments industry is experiencing a rapid transformation driven by technological advancements and changing consumer preferences. As local Consumer Cards Business Lead, you’ll play a vital role in developing cards business for Nordea and driving commercial activities in Denmark in order to ensure we have a strong local cards offering that is top of mind with best in market sales development together with high customer and stakeholder satisfaction.
What you’ll be doing
- You will build and execute on the strategic direction and business plan for Consumer Cards in Denmark aligned colleagues in Transaction Banking, Personal Banking and Private Banking.
- You will be responsible for ensuring that consumer cards portfolio in Denmark is profitable and supports local and Nordic targets.
- You act as a key counterpart to our local stakeholders in Denmark in Consumer Cards related topics and you collaborate with Nordic colleagues and card scheme providers. You will coordinate Consumer Cards value chain in Denmark securing that internal collaboration supports Nordea’s priorities.
- Stay informed on regulatory developments and local competition.
You’ll join a diverse, multi-faceted and passionate team. Occasional travel primarily in the Nordics should be expected. The role is based in Copenhagen

Your experience and background:
- +10 years of related work experience
- You have proven senior stakeholder management skills and excellent capabilities in developing business and value propositions
- You have proven skills in presenting and arguing for good proposals both in local and in Nordic settings
- You have a relevant academic degree and professional skills in Danish and in English, both spoken and written
- Knowledge of Personal Banking, cards, wallets, consumer payments industry in general - a plus but not mandatory
