As one of a number of Engineering Managers, you will have overall technical accountability for the development of solutions of your Agile Release Train. This encompasses both in-house development and services delivered by the Bank’s partner organisations.

About this opportunity


The Engineering Manager will work closely with the Service Domain Technology Lead and will be expected to drive engineering excellence in the delivery of reliable, secure, performant and maintainable solutions that meet the design requirements within the Service Domain. Engineering Managers are technical leaders, co-ordinators, facilitators and enablers.  They provide strategic and technical direction to development teams to ensure quality and on time delivery.


This role is not expected to code, but should be able to get to that level of detail to be able to communicate and influence desired technical outcomes.

What you’ll be doing:

  • Ensure delivery teams are resourced with people with the necessary technical skills
  • Identify and mitigate risks and issues associated with technical delivery 
  • Provide technical leadership and mentoring to build and maintain a world class software engineering  team
  • Lead the growth of the engineering practice by creating an environment that fosters technical excellence with a focus on engineering culture and quality of delivery and leading the cultural change necessary to support this 
  • Drive technical innovation and contribute to the Domain (and wider group’s) technical strategy 
  • Where applicable, seek out opportunities to leverage technology to achieve the Service Domain’s goals and ensuring you team is across the latest developments in relevant technologies
  • Oversee the introduction of any new technologies or processes including organisational change required for successful adoption
  • Work within a collaborative team environment, proactively sharing knowledge, information, problems and solutions
  • General people management including; hiring, periodic reviews and performance management


The role is based in Tricity or Warsaw, Poland.

  • Able to work closely with the architecture function and other stakeholders with the confidence to constructively challenge when required
  • Confident presenting your ideas to a wide audience including Service Domain stakeholders and other senior leaders 
  • A high proficiency of the English language (spoken and written) with well-developed communication skills


Your experience and background: 

  • Experience working on large, complex enterprise applications
  • Experience working in a technical leadership capacity with the ability to influence technical implementations and outcomes
  • Experience leading medium to large technical teams, ideally 30-50, who are responsible for creating business critical applications with large numbers of users 

 

Highly desirable:

  • Experience implementing continuous improvement and technical uplift initiatives across teams
  • Experience working in an agile software development environment
  • Although not essential, experience working with Temenos Transact will be highly regarded
  • Experience with, and an advocate for, Continuous Delivery and BizDevOps
