We are looking for a Leader for the LGD/CCF (Loss Given Default and Credit Conversion Factor) Models team within Risk Models Methodology & IRB Models at Nordea.

About this opportunity

 

Welcome to the Risk Models Methodology & IRB Models team. Our role is to develop and maintain Nordea’s Internal Rating Based credit risk models.  We strive to develop models that in the best possible way reflect the risks of the covered portfolios, live up to supervisory requirements and provide accurate basis  for credit decisions.

 

You have an opportunity to become a Head of the LGD & CCF Models team. The team is a group of highly proficient and motivated experts working on developing and maintaining statistical risk models for the LGD and CCF factors for both the Retail and non-Retail customers in Nordea. In practice this means that you will have an opportunity to work with all customers segments. This team of circa 15 analysts operates at the crossroads of different skill sets: developing advanced statistical models, applying knowledge and insights from analysing customers in default into the model design, designing internal software libraries, working with big data, analysing economic behaviour, understanding and abiding to regulatory constraints and further, to explain complex models to stakeholders on all levels across the Nordea organisation.

 

As a Leader in this area you will have great possibilities to develop your skills in the development of advanced modelling techniques and in translating the benefits of these models and of data quality to a diverse set of stakeholders in the organisation, as well as to external regulators. Being part of the broader Group Risk, you'll help to ensure that compliance underpins every decision we make and every action we take. We hope that you will bring your perspectives to the team and through your focus on quality and cooperation you will play the important role in our unit.


What you’ll be doing:

  • Give input to senior management and business based on data analysis and previous experience.
  • Plan projects and the activities for a team of specialist model developers.
  • Continuously work on improving methodological choices for the models and be able to clearly communicate its rationale and impact to internal and external stakeholders.
  • Support design decisions for rating models in other modelling areas you’re your knowledge and through constructive challenge.
  • Prioritise activities and ensure these get completed under tight deadlines.
  • Ensure that the products delivered in the team and their documentation adhere to the standards expected by internal and external oversight.

 

The role is based in Stockholm, Warsaw, Copenhagen or Helsinki.

Your experience and background:

  • Master's or PhD degree in a quantitative field, including but not limited to mathematics, physics, economics, statistics, finance, or similar.
  • Knowledge of IRB models strongly preferred.
  • Experience with a regulatory application process would be an advantage.
  • Strong focus on results and deliveries.
  • Experience driving deliveries, ideally in an agile environment.
  • Knowledge of credit risk management and hands on experience with the credit approval process for corporate counterparties is an advantage.
