About this opportunity

 

Welcome to Large Corporate & Institutions Legal. We provide inhouse legal advice to all business units within Large Corporate & Institutions in Nordea, working across all our four Nordic locations as well as New York. The role offers stimulating tasks focusing on product development, contract negotiations and regulatory matters regarding financial instruments and products offered by Nordea Markets as well as possibilities to explore additional product areas within Large Corporate & Institutions’ broad corporate and investment banking product offerings.

 

As the Senior Legal Counsel, you will play a valuable and trusted role in supporting Large Corporates and Institutions with a variety of tasks relating to Nordea Markets products and you will among other things be working with:

  • Advise in legal matters regarding Nordea Markets products, including derivatives, repos, securities lending, structured notes and warrants and certificates
  • Possibility to participate in product development processes from a legal perspective and take part in internal projects relating to Nordea Markets products together with colleagues in the other Nordic countries
  • Engage with customers and internal stakeholders in negotiations relating to Nordea Market’s full product offering with focus on OTC derivatives and repos
  • Advising on regulatory aspects of OTC derivatives and repos, in particular EMIR requirements relating to collateral
  • Take part in regulatory implementation together with stakeholders in Large Corporate & Institutions in general and Nordea Markets in particular
  • Actively monitor and potentially influence regulatory developments and provide trainings to stakeholders

 

You will join a strong Nordic team consisting of 50 highly skilled lawyers in a dynamic and challenging environment in one of the major in-house legal networks in the Nordics. The role is based in Copenhagen and you will formally be part of the Danish team consisting of 7 lawyers, but working closely together with our Nordic colleagues. We prioritise and focus not only on having high a level of integrity and legal skills, but also on creating and maintaining an informal and accommodating working environment, not only in our team but also with internal business units.

Your experience and background: 

  • At least three years of experience as a legal counsel, preferably in a capital markets environment, a corporate treasury department or a banking and finance practice at a law firm.
  • A genuine interest in the financial markets and a determination to become a leading lawyer in the Nordics in this field.
  • A Master of Law degree from Denmark or the Nordics.
  • Excellent language skills in English and Danish (or other Nordic language).
