Senior Linguistic Specialist, maternity cover for one year

København S, DK, 2300 Stockholm, SE, 111 46 Helsinki, FI, 00500 Oslo, NO, 0368 Łódź, PL, 90-051

Job ID: 6428

We are looking for a new colleague with exceptional native English speaking skills and a strong understanding of financial communication and business context. You will be part of Editorial Office within Group Brand, Communication and Marketing in Nordea, where we aim to bridge across countries, as well as business areas in our internal and external communication.

Our talented Senior Linguistic Specialist is going on maternity leave, so we’re searching for a new colleague to take over while she develops new skills in motherhood and parenting.

You will join Nordea’s Editorial Office, where we work with an omnichannel approach to the stories that support the overall priorities of Nordea. This will require a strategic understanding of how to deliver key messages to both colleagues across the bank and to our customers and other stakeholders.

As a native English speaker, preferably with a master’s degree in communication, you understand and cater for the language and how we communicate. You’ll ensure that our communication is accurate and to the point while keeping our tone of voice. Together with the rest of the team you will also be responsible for ensuring that strategic Group messages are put well into context in our communication activities.

A big part of the job will be to proofread and edit texts written by colleagues, and through that, elevate the linguistic abilities across the department and company. You take pride in high quality and details, just like you enjoy teaching your colleagues to improve their language skills. You get energy from developing and driving the company’s language policy and tone of voice.

You already have professional knowledge of corporate communication and are experienced in advising and driving communication from a similar position in a fast-paced and demanding environment. You thrive in the lingo of the financial business world, just like you possess an in-depth understanding of financial matters.

To be successful in the role, you know exactly how to phrase and create content for your audience. You care for the nuances in your native tongue and take pride in making sure that all commas are in place. You are a highly skilled communicator and writer, who quickly can identify the red thread in a story and articulate it very well. You have at least a few years’ experience with writing for different channels, tailored to each channel’s target group. You are able to navigate in a matrix organisation and have an eye for the details, as well as the holistic picture. Just like you have good experience with high-level stakeholders and understand their demands and needs.

You will report to the Head of Editorial Office and will have close interaction with communicators in Nordea’s business areas and Group functions. You’ll have an opportunity to make a difference from day one – together with the team.

What you’ll be doing:

  • Edit content produced by colleagues from the team, as well as across the organisation
  • Ensure communication is consistent, of high quality and relevant to key audiences and stakeholders
  • Edit and draft material for CEO letters and presentations
  • Be highly engaged in editing and proofreading Nordea’s interim results and annual report – to ensure coherent messaging and high-quality language
  • Provide training and advice to support colleagues in achieving clear writing and applying Nordea’s tone of voice principles effectively

We offer

A unique opportunity to join a well-functioning and highly cooperative team within Group Brand, Communication and Marketing. Editorial Office consists of very talented communicators across the Nordics and Poland with a good mix of internal and external communication experience. We work very closely together – both within the team and across the unit and the bank. Our ambitions are high but we’re not afraid to fail when we take on new challenges with enthusiasm, engagement and curiosity. We appreciate a good laugh, as well as a professional discussion of daily tasks and overall communication strategies.

Who you are

We imagine that you have a linguistic and communicative background. You’re dependable, willing to speak up – also when it’s difficult – and truly enjoy working closely with a dedicated team. You have a strong work ethic and are passionate about doing a great job.

  • Have a native-level proficiency in English, both spoken and written – and you have a university degree in English
  • Know how to phrase concise key messages in precise English
  • Have a clear understanding of how to aim your stories at different audiences and in different channels
  • Are a motivated and optimistic team-player who is self-driven, and prepared to work collaboratively as part of a dedicated team
  • Go to work with a smile and take responsibility for ensuring a good and pleasant working environment for your colleagues

At Nordea we believe in the value of going to the office, just like we provide flexibility. We are searching for the right candidate based in Copenhagen, Helsinki, Oslo or Stockholm.

We seek a colleague who can join us no later than 1 May 2022 and stay with us for a year, with the possibility to negotiate prolonging the contract if both parties agree to it.

If this sounds like you, we look forward to welcoming you to the team!
