About our team

Meet the CCR Financial Risk team. As a Senior or Lead Risk Expert, you will be a senior member of Group Financial Risk Management and Control unit, which is responsible for ensuring Nordea's counterparty credit risks are well understood and managed across the group.

The role will be part of the core financial risk function which adds value by evaluating, challenging and reporting on Nordea’s risk management, control environment and governance processes to ensure that the Group achieves its business objectives. Areas covered are within Counterparty Credit Risk, xVA Market Risk, Securities Financing, Securitisations Risk and Stress Testing.

Collaboration. Ownership. Passion. Courage. These are the values that guide us in how we work and how we make decisions – and that we imagine you share with us.

Main responsibilities in this role:

  • Take the lead on analysing financial risks across the CCR portfolio, including deep dives into portfolio and wrong-way risks.
  • Proactively engage in live-deal assessments and approvals for Securities Financing transactions and Significant Risk Transfers.
  • Provide valuable contributions to the design, planning and execution of stress testing and oversight activities.
  • Establish and maintain key stakeholder relationships both within our value chain and the broader Nordea Group.
  • Continuously develop and share with the team your understanding of how prevailing and emerging industry risks impact the bank and its counterparties.

Who you are

This is the right role for you if you are:

  • Exceptionally skilled at analysing and solving complex problems.
  • Experienced in managing projects and navigating large organisations, with a focus on high quality deliverables.
  • Self-motivated and able to independently take full ownership of your tasks/responsibilities, whilst also enjoying working as part of a team and contributing to team efforts.
  • An effective communicator with the ability to present complex and sensitive issues to senior management.
  • Highly detail-oriented without losing sight of the bigger picture.
  • Able to manage multiple tasks concurrently in an efficient and effective manner.

The ideal candidate will be an experienced financial professional with a deep knowledge of derivative products, pricing and risk. The candidate should also have excellent stakeholder management skills, be comfortable in front of senior professionals and be an advocate of the importance of a strong risk culture within the bank.

Your background and skills include:

  • 4 years+ of experience operating in financial markets roles, preferably within counterparty credit risk and/or market risk.
  • General knowledge of financial products with prior professional experience analysing/modelling derivatives.
  • An excellent academic background, including a degree in a quantitative discipline, such as economics, finance, statistics/mathematics, sciences or engineering.
  • Professional proficiency in English (Nordea’s official language).

It would be ideal if you also:

  • Solid, hands-on experience in one or more counterparty credit risk areas, e.g. XVA, IMM or Securities Financing.
  • Experience in programming and working with large amounts of financial data.
