We are looking for an Application Service Manager to join Local Systems Operations in Norway. Local Systems is a team loaded with experience, professionalism and passion. Now we need to add talent to the team, to stay in strength and competence also for the future.

About this opportunity

Welcome to the Local Systems team. We add value by providing stable, efficient and innovative IT services in the core banking system areas such as Deposits, Payments, Customer data and Loans, serving virtually all other business areas of the bank. As an Application Service Manager you will play a vital role in keeping Nordea’s fundamental banking applications running stable and compliant. You will support Application Providers working on a portfolio of applications constituting the foundation of the bank. In your role, you will support Nordeas vital Incident, Problem and Change processes. You will work on internal as well as external audits of different kinds, and provide technical support to Application Providers and other stakeholders.

What you’ll be doing:  

• Be a technical support to Application Providers
• Follow up on and guide our vendors, who are doing the bulk part of daily application operations.
• Support and perform the activities in the Change, Incident and Problem Processes
• Conduct compliance reviews, and if needed implement corrective measures
• Cooperate with Application Providers to create an optimal environment for the applications evolution, including access to sufficient application competence over time

As the Application Service Manager, you will focus on the applications health in a short and long term perspective, making sure Nordea has access to applications with world class functionality, scalability, maintainability and performance, now and in the future. To achieve this, you will be cooperating with many parts of Nordea, inside and outside Local Systems. Vendor Management will be a crucial activity, as many of the operational services of the applications are purchased from external vendors.

The Local Systems application portfolio is mainly built on the IBM z/OS (“Mainframe”) technical platform. A substantial part of the application portfolio is built on Midrange technologies, such as Java. To be successful, we believe you are well acquainted with these platforms, with a primary focus on the Mainframe.

This role is based in Oslo, Norway. This is a permanent, full-time position.

To succeed in this role, we believe that you:  

• Have worked five years with banking applications
• Are good at grasping rules and regulations, and realizing their practical consequences
• Are well acquainted with IT Operations work
• Have a structured mind with attention to detail
• Can act independently, and identify the actions you need to take.
• Have a positive attitude and cooperate easily with those you have contact with in your daily work
• Have the capability to work with English speaking colleagues from all over the world.

Your experience and background:

• You have five years of experience from the financial sector, primarily focused on software maintenance and/or development
• You are skilled in and enjoy analysing IT solutions
• Several years of experience from working with mainframe systems
• Experience from ITIL and IPC Process work
• Acquaintance with Nordeas systems, products and processes will be a big advantage
