Leveraged Finance Internship - Nordea Investment Banking (Oslo)
Oslo, NO, 0368
Job ID: 4198
The Leveraged Finance team advises private equity clients across the Nordics on a wide range of financing situations, including leveraged buyouts, dividend recapitalisations and refinancings. Working at the intersection of M&A and debt capital markets, we structure and execute tailored financing solutions across bank debt, distributed loans and high yield bonds. With more than 40 professionals across the Nordic region, we offer interns early exposure to complex, sponsor-driven transactions and a steep learning curve in a core investment banking product.
About this opportunity
Following an introductory training period that will equip you with the toolbox needed for you to contribute, you will get exposure to live transactions and the opportunity to be involved in solving complex financial situations. Our interns are treated as junior members of the team and will take part in live transactions, pitches and portfolio monitoring. Responsibilities typically include financial analysis and modelling, transaction support, preparation of internal credit materials and external client presentations, and ad hoc analysis to support senior deal teams. The role is demanding, fast-paced and offers significant responsibility and a steep learning curve for the right candidate.
Working in Leveraged Finance provides early hands-on exposure to the debt side of transactions, offering a deep understanding of how acquisitions, refinancings and capital structures are evaluated and executed. This perspective gives candidates a strong foundation in deal mechanics, risk considerations and credit decision‑making that is highly transferable across a wide range of finance roles.
The internship is particularly well suited for students taking a gap year between Bachelor’s and Master’s studies, although other strong candidates will also be considered.
We are hiring for two separate internship periods, fall 2026 (mid-August to mid-December, ca 20 weeks) and spring 2027 (mid-January to end of June, ca 25 weeks). Exact dates to be agreed with the relevant candidate, the internship is full-time and based in Oslo.
Who you are
You are a high-performing student with strong analytical skills, a genuine interest in finance and a willingness to take responsibility. You are comfortable working with numbers, pay close attention to detail and take pride in producing high-quality output under time pressure. A combination of social attributes, strong communication skills and a clear ambition to learn quickly and take on responsibility in a demanding environment are considered vital.
Our values are Collaboration, Ownership, Passion and Courage. These are the values that guide us in being at our best – and that we imagine you share with us. We are team players and our team culture supports people who are eager to learn and willing to take on new challenges. We offer a steep learning curve and prioritise continuous feedback to support your professional and personal development.
Desired skills, experience and education:
- Completed at least 3 years of university studies within a relevant subject (finance, business, engineering or similar) by the start of the internship
- Positive mindset and strong desire to contribute and develop your skillset
- Meticulous and passionate about creating high quality deliverables
- Solid understanding of financial statements and basic corporate finance
- Strong Excel skills; exposure to financial modelling is an advantage
- High proficiency in English (written and spoken)
