About this opportunity

We are looking for a Data & AI Intern to join our Data Platform team. This role is perfect for someone early in their career who is interested in the intersection of data management and artificial intelligence. You will gain practical experience with how data is structured, governed, and enhanced through AI capabilities within a modern financial services environment. You'll play a key role in implementing data policies, coordinating AI-driven projects, and supporting initiatives that improve data quality, accessibility, and intelligent automation across our organization.

What you’ll be doing:

Data Platform & Metadata Management:

• Design and maintain intelligent metadata frameworks that enable automated data discovery, lineage tracking, and cataloging across our data ecosystem using tools like Snowflake, DataHub, dbt, and Kafka.
• Implement automated data classification and semantic tagging systems to enhance searchability and ensure governance standards are consistently applied.
• Support the development of metadata-driven data quality monitoring and validation processes that automatically detect inconsistencies and maintain data reliability.
• Create interactive data catalogs and documentation that serve as the single source of truth for data definitions, business rules and usage guidelines across teams.
• Establish metadata standardization initiatives across data domains, ensuring consistent naming conventions, descriptions and classification schemas.

AI & Innovation:

• Support the development and optimization of AI-powered search capabilities across our data assets.
• Help evaluate, test and implement AI-based tools for data governance automation & others.
• Assist in exploring machine learning applications for data quality monitoring and anomaly detection.
• Contribute to AI model evaluation and performance tracking initiatives.

Collaboration & Monitoring:

• Work closely with Product Managers, Product Analysts, Engineers, and data governance stakeholders.
• Monitor and track adoption of best practices in data management, security, and AI implementation.
• Support cross-functional teams in understanding and leveraging AI-enhanced data capabilities.

To succeed in this role, we believe that you:

• A recently completed or final-year degree in Information Systems, Computer Science, Data Science, Engineering, Business, or a related field.
• Basic understanding of data concepts like data flows, integrations, metadata, or access controls.
• Familiarity with or keen interest in modern data tools (e.g., Snowflake, dbt, Kafka, DataHub).
• Some exposure to SQL or Python (academic or personal projects welcome).
• Interest in AI/ML applications for data management, with basic understanding of concepts like NLP, classification, anomaly detection, or recommendation systems.
• Understanding of how AI can enhance data discovery, quality assessment, and governance processes.
• Effective organization, self-discipline, and communication skills.
• An initiative-driven and critical mindset with the ability to manage tasks effectively and work collaboratively.
• Motivation to stay current with AI/ML trends and their applications in data management.

Nice to have (not required):

• Interest or experience in data governance or regulatory frameworks (e.g., GDPR, financial services regulations).
• Participation in academic or personal projects involving data pipelines, system integrations, or AI/ML implementations.
• Experience with AI/ML frameworks (TensorFlow, PyTorch, scikit-learn, Hugging Face).
• Knowledge of vector databases, embedding models, or semantic search technologies.
• Understanding of MLOps practices and AI model lifecycle management.
