Quant Developer (NAM Portugal)
Paço de Arcos, PT, 2770-131
Job ID: 5014
Would you like to sit at the intersection of quantitative finance and modern software development? We are now looking for a Quant Developer to design and build data and AI-driven web applications and pipelines that empower investment boutiques with timely, actionable insights.
Nordea Asset Management (NAM) is the centre of investment management in the Nordea Group and in the Asset & Wealth Management division. NAM is the largest asset manager in the Nordics with the vision of being a leading European Asset Manager. We want to do this by delivering returns with responsibility. We meet customer demands and guide our customers in the right direction in asset selection while ensuring prudent ESG practices. NAM has around 900 employees and more than 475 Nordic and international institutional clients.
About this opportunity
Welcome to the Fixed Income & Equities Quant Dev team. We add value by building robust data pipelines and analytical tools that surface critical investment intelligence, enabling portfolio managers and analysts across our investment boutiques to make faster, better-informed decisions. We also help automate manual processes using AI. As a Quant Developer, you'll play a valuable role in bridging the gap between raw financial and non-financial data and the insights that drive real responsible investment outcomes.
What you’ll be doing:
- Designing and developing both RESTful APIs and server-rendered web applications using Python and FastAPI with Jinja templating, delivering investment data and tools directly to internal stakeholders across NAM's investment boutiques.
- Building and maintaining automated data pipelines using Airflow, DLT, and DBT to ingest, transform, and deliver financial data to our Snowflake internal marketplace.
- Containerising and deploying applications using Docker, ensuring consistency and reliability across development and production environments.
- Collaborating closely with quantitative analysts and portfolio managers to identify key data needs and continuously improve the tools and insights we deliver.
You'll join a small, high-impact team sitting at the crossroads of quantitative finance and modern data engineering, where your work is visible, meaningful, and directly used by investment professionals every day. The role is based in Quinta da Fonte (Oeiras), but you will be working closely with colleagues in Copenhagen.
Who you are
Collaboration. Ownership. Passion. Courage. These are the values that guide us in being at our best – and that we imagine you share with us.
To do well in this role, we believe that you:
- Are genuinely curious about financial markets and motivated to understand the investment context behind the data you work with.
- Take ownership of your work end-to-end, from understanding a business problem to deploying a reliable solution, and communicate proactively along the way.
- Enjoy working in a fast-moving environment, iterating pragmatically, and collaborating across technical and non-technical stakeholders.
Your experience and background:
- Very strong Python skills, with hands-on experience building web applications, APIs, or data tooling. Experience with FastAPI, Jinja templating, or similar web frameworks is a strong plus.
- Familiarity with data engineering concepts and tools, pipelines, orchestration, and data warehousing (experience with any of Airflow, DBT, DLT, Snowflake, or Postgres is a strong plus).
- Understanding of financial markets or asset management, whether from academic study or professional experience.
- A degree in a quantitative discipline such as Computer Science, Mathematics, Finance, Engineering, or similar.
