Since 2020, we have worked on building and strengthening our Governance Capabilities within the Technology space, and we now look for a Senior IT Governance Specialist to support us in the continued rollout and maturing of our IT governance framework, to make it robust for the ongoing digital and data transformation, while still keeping focus on the sound governance of IT- systems and IT- processes.
About this opportunity
Welcome to IT Governance team in NAM. We are part of Data, IT and Information Security Office (DITIS) and we add value by ensuring regulatory compliance and operational business support within NAM. We ensure clear and transparent accountability and responsibility for our IT- systems and that the quality of IT processes and IT services continuously meet the needs and requirements of the different stakeholders, such as Business, Customers and Regulators.
As Senior IT Governance Specialist, you’ll play a valuable role in supporting the NAM organisation to comply with regulatory requirments and legislation, through operational implementation of the IT governance framework, assessment and assurance activities related to policies and standards for IT security and IT governance.
What you’ll be doing:
IT Governance Framework
- Continuously develop and maintain the NAM’s IT governance framework and operating model to ensure it is resilient and compliant with regulatory requirements;
- Work closely with Business and Technology stakeholders (e.g. Application Owners, Application Providers, IT management) to ensure NAM’s IT applications and IT processes adhere to relevant policy requirements and standards.
- Assist and advise NAM stakeholders on IT governance matters, such as practical implementation of IT governance policies and standards; training and awareness about NAM’s IT governance framework.
- Application Lifecycle Management
- Coordinate and follow up with Business and Technology stakeholders on timely and accurate execution of application management tasks, such as application registration in central IT asset register, sound application management thoughout the lifecycle (from sourcing to decomissioning);
- Advise and assist Business and Technology teams on implementation and monitoring of IT- and information security controls in IT applications and IT operational processes.
Advisory and Business Support
- Act as ambassador and promote efficient, accurate and compliant IT operations and IT management in NAM;
- Act as coordinator, supervise or facilitate larger IT governance initiatives across NAM organisation (e.g. implementation of a new standard operating procedure);
- Influence and advise Business and Technology teams on sound IT risk management practices and oversee compliance with the NAM’s IT risk management requirements.
You’ll join a motivated and engaged team of professionals, who take pride in the continuous development of the Asset Management organisation to be fit for technology and data- enabled future. You will collaborate closely with other functions in DITIS – such as Information Security Office, Data Governance and Sourcing, as well as other NAM functions.
The role is based in Lisbon.

- Fluency in English (spoken and written).
Your experience and background:
- Minimum Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Business or related field.
- Minimum 4+ years of relevant experience working with IT service management, application management and/or IT security, and ensuring governance around these areas.
- Familiar with operational implementation of international information security standards, such as ISO 27001, COBIT or NIST.
- Familiar with international standards and best practice frameworks within IT governance, such as ISO 35800 or similar and operational implementation of these.
- Knowledge of IT-, security- and operational risk regulation and frameworks.
- Analytical competence to assess business and technical needs for project management.
- Good business understanding and knowledge of investment management or asset management business domain (or a similar field).
- Good understanding of the general regulatory and governance framework applicable to the financial sector.
