Stockholm, SE, 111 46 Taastrup, DK, 2630
Job ID: 6151
Welcome to Group Technology. Here, we bring business and technology together to shape Nordea’s future and turn ambitious ideas into practical, sustainable solutions. Through strong architecture leadership and close collaboration, we help create clarity, connect perspectives and support meaningful transformation across the bank.
We are looking for a Chief Enterprise Architect, Advanced AI, who is excited to help shape the enterprise architecture and AI direction behind Nordea’s strategic ambitions. In this highly influential role, you will bring people together around a shared direction and help turn emerging possibilities into secure, scalable and valuable outcomes. This is a full-time permanent position.
Nordea is a place where traditions meet tomorrow. We're not just a bank, we're a tech employer on a mission to evolve finance securely and responsibly. Together, we impact millions of people’s daily lives by ensuring they can access our solutions anytime, anywhere, while safeguarding their personal data and wealth. Join us in making an impact on the banking industry.
About our team
Meet the Cross Architecture & Transformation team. We are a collaborative group with a shared ambition: to make Nordea’s enterprise-wide architectural direction clear, connected and actionable. By bringing business and technology perspectives together, we help translate strategic ambitions, regulatory needs and technology evolution into outcomes that support better customer experiences, operational excellence, compliance and innovation.
Our work sits at the crossroads of strategy, business transformation, governance and technology. You will join experienced enterprise architects and specialists across AI, information, application, technology and business architecture, governance and enterprise tooling. Together with senior leaders, architects and transformation teams, you will have the opportunity to build relationships, exchange perspectives and influence decisions that matter across the entire bank.
In this role, you will have the opportunity to:
- Shape enterprise architecture and AI strategies, working side by side with business and technology teams to create practical adoption roadmaps.
- Create clear architecture principles, reusable patterns and governance standards that make responsible AI adoption and application modernisation easier to scale.
- Turn business priorities and customer needs into clear technology and architecture direction aligned with Nordea’s 2030 strategy, risk appetite and regulatory requirements.
- Help build scalable and well-governed architecture for predictive, generative and agentic AI, bringing fragmented initiatives together as reusable enterprise capabilities, platforms and services.
- Champion AI architecture that is secure, private, explainable, traceable, resilient and responsible.
- Lead simplification and rationalisation across Nordea’s application, technology and platform estate.
- Support major transformation, modernisation and platform initiatives from strategic direction through implementation.
- Bring business, technology, data, engineering, security, risk and compliance together around shared decisions and outcomes.
- Share your expertise and help architects and platform teams grow through architecture reviews, technical deep dives, technology evaluations and hands-on implementation guidance.
Who you are
You may be a great fit for this role if you are a strategic and technically credible architecture leader who enjoys turning enterprise architecture and AI into meaningful business value. You combine long-term vision with a practical mindset and believe that good architecture should help people move forward. You are equally comfortable contributing to executive conversations, shaping strategy and exploring technical detail with experts.
- See the bigger picture while staying connected to technology and the realities of implementation.
- Explore emerging AI technologies with curiosity and sound judgement, balancing value, risk and long-term impact.
- Make complex business, architecture and AI topics clear, relevant and actionable for different audiences.
- Build trusted relationships across business, technology, data, risk and regulatory functions, even when priorities differ.
- Challenge established thinking respectfully, make difficult decisions when needed and protect the principles and controls that matter.
- Create momentum through influence, collaboration and clear communication, while helping people and the wider architecture community grow.
We hope you bring:
- Senior enterprise architecture leadership: At least 10 years of enterprise architecture experience, including work as a Chief Enterprise Architect, Head of Enterprise
- Architecture or equivalent senior architecture leader in a large, complex organisation.
- Financial services or regulated-industry expertise: Extensive experience in banking, insurance, pensions, wealth management or another highly regulated environment, with strong understanding of governance, risk, compliance, security and data privacy.
- AI strategy and architecture: Demonstrated ability to define AI strategies and adoption roadmaps, align initiatives with business objectives and establish architecture and governance for responsible AI.
- Advanced AI knowledge: Strong understanding of large language models, generative AI and agentic AI, including secure integration, governance and scaling in a regulated environment.
- Transformation leadership: Proven leadership in large-scale transformation, application modernisation, platform simplification or technology rationalisation.
Your perspective on advanced AI
You bring a broad understanding of enterprise AI architecture and enjoy helping others make thoughtful choices across AI strategy and roadmaps; predictive, generative and agentic AI; retrieval-augmented generation and enterprise knowledge grounding; multi-agent orchestration and routing; governed AI platforms; integration and data architectures; observability and auditability; responsible AI; security, privacy and regulatory compliance; cloud and hybrid-cloud strategies; lifecycle and cost management; and reusable patterns and guardrails. Just as importantly, you recognise that sustainable AI is built on strong data, integration, security, ownership, governance and an operating model that supports the full AI lifecycle.
We would also value:
- Deep cloud architecture expertise, preferably in Microsoft Azure or AWS, including hybrid and regulated cloud environments.
- A TOGAF certification or an equivalent recognised enterprise architecture qualification.
- Hands-on experience establishing enterprise AI reference architectures, reusable AI patterns or governed AI platforms.
What you can help us achieve
- A clear enterprise architecture and AI strategy aligned with Nordea’s business and technology ambitions.
- Actionable AI adoption roadmaps co-created with business and technology teams.
- Scalable, governed and secure AI capabilities connected to measurable business outcomes.
- Stronger alignment between strategy, investments and architecture direction, with reduced complexity across the technology estate.
- Improved architecture decision-making, successful modernisation initiatives and effective implementation support for architects and platform teams.
- A strong, collaborative architecture community that delivers measurable enterprise value.
This is an opportunity to shape more than architecture. You will help influence how Nordea uses technology and AI to transform its business, support its customers and deliver its long-term strategy—while working with talented colleagues who value collaboration, curiosity and responsible execution. If you are inspired by the possibility of turning enterprise architecture and AI into practical direction, scalable capabilities and measurable value, we would be very happy to hear from you.
