Data Scientist - Predictive AI
Stockholm, SE, 111 46
Job ID: 2918
We are looking for a Data Scientist who is strong in statistics, comfortable working with real-world data, and motivated by understanding why things behave the way they do — not just building models, but reasoning about them. You will spend your time developing models and uncovering patterns that help us detect financial crime. The work combines analytical depth with real-world impact. The position is full time, permanent and located in Stockholm (hybrid).
About our team
Meet the Predictive AI team. Our role is to build machine learning models to fight financial crime. Our team consists of around 10 data scientists and machine learning engineers, and belong to the group financial crime prevention (GFCP) unit.
Collaboration. Ownership. Passion. Courage. These are the values that guide us in how we work and how we make decisions – and that we imagine you share with us.
Main responsibilities in this role:
- Explore and analyze large, complex datasets to identify patterns relevant for financial crime detection
- Develop, evaluate, and refine statistical and machine learning models with a focus on robustness and interpretability
- Investigate model behavior in depth, including assumptions, limitations and stability
- Design and run experiments to assess model improvements and validate results
- Communicate insights and findings clearly to both technical and non-technical stakeholders
Who you are
This is the right role for you if you enjoy analytical work, thinking deeply about data and models, and care about understanding the details behind results. You are motivated by solving complex problems, questioning assumptions, and building a clear understanding of how and why models behave the way they do.
Your background and skills include:
- Strong foundation in statistics and machine learning, including understanding of underlying assumptions and limitations
- Ability to approach problems in a structured and rigorous way
- Strong analytical mindset — you question results and validate assumptions
- Good communication skills and ability to explain complex ideas clearly
It would be ideal if you also:
- Hold an MSc or PhD in a quantitative field (e.g. statistics, mathematics, machine learning, econometrics)
- Have experience from research or similarly analytical environments
- Are comfortable exploring data and using visualisations to build understanding
- Are curious, engaged and take ownership of your work
