Internal Audit Manager, Mortgage and Finance Companies

We are looking for an Internal Audit Manager to join our Mortgage and Finance Companies audit team in Nordea. The position will also include the role of Legal Entity Chief Internal Auditor for the Swedish subsidiary Nordea Hypotek.

About our team

Welcome to Group Internal Audit (GIA). We are an independent function supporting the Nordea Group Board and Group Executive Management in protecting the bank’s assets, reputation and sustainability.

Our GIA Mortgage and Finance Companies team is accountable for providing assurance for Nordea’s four mortgage companies and four finance companies through foresight and insight. We perform operational audits, covering all risk types and all processes related to the mortgage and finance companies. We also fill the Legal Entity Chief Internal Auditor positions of the mortgage and finance companies, with functional reporting lines to the Board of Directors of the entities. It is our responsibility to ensure that sufficient audit coverage is achieved and that any additional local regulatory needs, relating to internal audit, are met. We are a team of audit generalists located in Finland, Norway, Denmark and Sweden.

Main responsibilities in this role:

• Plan and execute audit projects and follow up on previous audit findings in accordance with GIA's methodology as a project lead or team member 
• Build and actively engage with a network of stakeholders within Nordea and in particular with senior management of Nordea Hypotek
• Drive continuous monitoring activities to support risk identification and annual audit planning, and share knowledge within your area of responsibility
• Deploy and continuously mature data analytical-, AI- and technology audit capabilities in audit work
• Work with GIA colleagues across teams and countries in a truly global and diversified network  

In addition, you will in your role as Legal Entity Chief Internal Auditor be:

• Drafting and communicating the legal entity annual audit plan to senior management and board of Nordea Hypotek
• Providing summary reporting of relevant audit activities to Nordea Hypotek board, including board committees as appropriate
• Interact with financial supervisory authorities as required    

The role is based in Sweden. You will be reporting to the Head of Audit for the Mortgage and Finance Companies team. The role will not entail responsibility for managing staff.  

Who you are 

This is the right role for you if you are proactive and have a structured way of working with an analytical mindset and a “can do” attitude and have a strong sense of ownership and accountability. You are able to interact with stakeholders on various levels – from auditees directly involved in the audited processes to senior management and board members. You excel in project management and can translate GIA’s broader strategy into your daily work. This includes embracing the increasing use of AI across the audit value chain and continuously developing professional capabilities required of future auditors.

Your background and skills include:

• A minimum of 5 years of working experience in internal or external audit, or from a risk management or compliance function
• Experience working with various banking related activities, such as credit related processes, governance and risk management, anti-financial crime processes, accounting, financial reporting and IT application management
• University degree in a relevant field
• Proficiency in Swedish

It would be ideal if you also:

• Have experience of regulatory interaction and legal entity specific dimensions
• Hold knowledge of the evolving regulatory requirements relating to various areas in banking
• Are CIA or CISA audit certified or commitment to obtain one
