We are looking for a Lead ESG Analyst to join the Climate & Environment team in Group Sustainability. The role is permanent and is based in either of the Nordic countries.

 

About our team

 

Meet Group Sustainability. We have the overall responsibility for developing Nordea’s sustainability priorities and governance, supporting our high ambitions and strong determination to enable the transition and take societal responsibility. We are now looking to strengthen our team with a Lead ESG Analyst to the Climate & Environment team to support the organisation with high-quality insights and conclusions and contribute to further developing Nordea’s sustainability capabilities and practices.

 

The Climate & Environment team is responsible for Nordea’s overarching climate and environmental strategy and for supporting the organisation with strategic insights and expert advice on these topics. The team is located in Sweden, Finland and Denmark and consists of experts on climate and environmental topics and sustainable finance. You will be working closely with other team members and with colleagues across the Group. The position will report directly to the Head of Climate & Environment.

What you’ll be doing


This role is a great opportunity if you want to contribute to further strengthening Nordea’s climate and environmental practices. You will be a key resource in further developing Nordea’s capabilities to understand, assess and conclude on how climate and environmental issues impact Nordea’s business environment, and the resulting implications it has on Nordea’s operations.

 

Main responsibilities in this role:

  • Conducting in-depth climate and environmental related research and forward-looking projections across sectors and countries, providing actionable conclusions and insights focused on implications for Nordea
  • Analysing existing and emerging climate and environmental practices and trends across the financial industry, supporting the development of Nordea’s climate and environmental-related offerings, solutions, tools, and practices
  • Contributing with climate and environmental expertise and research to the development of Nordea’s sector and thematic framework and double materiality assessment
  • Providing subject matter expertise and guidance to the organisation on climate and environmental topics, target-setting and carbon accounting  

 

Who you are 

 

This is the right role for you if you are specialized in the multi-layered complexity of the climate- and environmental transition and its related impacts, risks and opportunities on Nordea’s operations and value chain.

 

You have an analytical mindset and demonstrate strong understanding of how climate and environmental issues impact the real economy and the financial industry. You possess excellent capabilities in turning large amounts of information and data into actionable insights and conclusions and are comfortable working in a rapidly changing environment characterised by high ambitions and a collaborative atmosphere.

 

Your background and skills include:

  • Relevant academic background, combining climate and environment with economics or finance
  • Strong theoretical foundation in climate issues, including a good understanding how climate policy, regulation and technology shape decarbonisation trajectories across sectors and markets, and similarly to also have a strong foundation related to other environmental issues
  • Professional experience working with climate and environmental topics in a financial institution, preferably in research or risk management, demonstrating an understanding of how climate and environmental issues translate into risks and opportunities for the financial sector
  • Excellent analytical capabilities with a strong ability to synthesise comprehensive amounts of information and data into clear and actionable conclusions and recommendations
  • High proficiency in written and spoken English, with a strong ability to provide clear and concise communication, presentations and decision materials

 

It would be ideal if you also:

  • Demonstrated experience in managing effective relationships with a wide range of stakeholders
