We're seeking a collaborative and innovative Senior Data Engineer to join our AI Innovation team at Nordea. This position is a full-time, permanent role with hybrid working location based in Helsinki, Finland, Gdansk / Gdynia / Warsaw, Poland, Copenhagen, Denmark, or Stockholm, Sweden.

What you’ll be doing
Main responsibilities in this role include, but are not limited to:
- Design, develop and scale transformative AI applications from concept to production, to create technology that makes a real impact
- Build innovative generative AI applications that solve meaningful problems, partnering with cross-functional teams throughout the development lifecycle
- Connect AI systems with vector databases, APIs and existing systems to build cohesive solutions
- Architect scalable infrastructure for AI workloads, including model serving and data pipelines
- Explore emerging AI tools and frameworks: share insights and build proof-of-concepts
- Partner with engineers and product teams to translate business needs into practical AI solutions
What you’ll bring

We're looking for someone with most of the following experience and skills:
- BSc or MSc in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Engineering Physics, or equivalent practical experience
- 3 - 5+ years’ experience in testing, maintaining, or launching software products or AI/ML products in production environments
- Strong software engineering fundamentals with proficiency in Python and experience building scalable, maintainable codebases
- Hands-on experience with AI/ML frameworks and libraries, with the ability to implement and optimize models for production use
- Solid understanding of DevOps/MLOps practices (CI/CD, Docker/Kubernetes) and infrastructure automation
- Experience with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure or GCP), particularly AI/ML and data services
- Comfortable building integrations with diverse data sources and formats
It would be ideal if you also have:
- Deep interest in or experience with Generative AI and Machine Learning technologies
- Experience with Model Context Protocol (MCP) for connecting AI models with external data sources
- Background in agile development or digital transformation projects
- Professional experience working in regulated industries i.e. Banking, Government, etc.
- Knowledge and familiarity with EU AI Act and other relevant AI regulations
