We are looking for a skilled and collaborative Senior Forward Deployed AI Scientist to join our Forward Deployed AI team at Nordea. You will design and build scalable AI solutions, working closely with cross-functional teams to deliver agentic AI applications that drive value across the organization while ensuring ethical and sustainable development practices.

This position is a full-time, permanent role with hybrid working location based in Helsinki, Finland, Stockholm, Sweden, Gdańsk / Gdynia / Warsaw, Poland, or Copenhagen, Denmark.

Main responsibilities in this role include, but are not limited to:
- Design, develop, and scale transformative AI applications from concept to production to create technology that makes a real impact.
- Translate ambiguous, open-ended business problems into well-defined machine learning problem statements in close collaboration with engineers and product teams.
- Provide input to the full modeling lifecycle: problem framing, hypothesis formulation, model selection, experimentation, evaluation and iteration.
- Develop and implement advanced machine learning models and agentic solutions for various business applications.
- Explore emerging AI methods; share insights and build proofs of concept applicable to Nordea’s use cases.

We are looking for someone with most of the following experience and skills:
- BSc, MSc or PhD in Computer Science, Engineering Physics, Data Science, Statistics, or equivalent practical experience
- Strong software engineering fundamentals and proficiency in Python, with minimum 3 years of hands-on experience developing and deploying AI/ML solutions in production environments
- Hands-on experience with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure or GCP), with a focus on deploying and operating AI/ML and data services at scale
- Deep understanding of machine learning and statistics, with the ability to turn a business problem into a modelling one
- Strong communication skills with the ability to explain complex technical concepts to both technical teams and business stakeholders
- Excellent collaboration skills and experience working with diverse teams including data scientists, engineers, and product stakeholders
It would be ideal if you also have:
- Knowledge of agent testing methodologies, performance monitoring and maintaining agent reliability in production environments
- Experience using agentic AI tools like Claude Code/Cowork, OpenAI Codex
- Experience working in agile environments or tech-driven transformation projects
- Familiarity with agent development frameworks and harnesses such as LangGraph, Deep Agents, AutoGen, CrewAI or similar, including multi-agent coordination and sub-agent delegation
- Professional experience from working in regulated industries, e.g. banking, government, etc.
