Job ID: 30425

Welcome to Group Technology, where we pride ourselves on engineering solutions and direct Nordea’s transformation by providing a holistic technological view and structured understanding of the bank, and its surrounding environment to enable the Customer Vision and the Business Strategy.

We are looking for a Senior Calypso Developer to join our team developing components powering one of core processes in the trading business - Settlement. This is a permanent and full-time position, based in our office in Stockholm (Sweden).

Nordea is a place where traditions meet tomorrow. We’re not just a bank; we’re a tech employer on a mission to evolve finance securely and responsibly. Together, we impact millions of people’s daily lives by ensuring they can access our solutions anytime, anywhere, while safeguarding their personal data and wealth. Join us in making an impact on the banking industry.

About our team

Meet the Settlement Development team. Our role is to develop and modernize integrations of Calypso - our modern Settlement system with the rest of the bank’s IT landscape. Besides the 4 scrum teams developing the platform, there are a development support team and a maintenance team. This way the development teams can focus on delivering high quality solutions. Calypso is a central piece of Nordea’s trading lifecycle and supports settlement of bonds and equities. Our team’s main focus is on expanding business logic of Calypso and on surrounding microservices. Responsibilities for this position include both integrating vendor upgrades and enhancing functionality, specifically adding support of new flows. Currently, our Calypso installation is on the path of expanding scope to process settlement of bonds and equities in all Nordea markets.

Main responsibilities in this role:

  • Designing and coding robust, well-tested, clean solutions using latest tools and technology
  • Developing in and around a complex off the shelf platform Calypso – creating code, which smoothly integrates with the Calypso engine
  • Performing code reviews and work with developer colleagues in continuously improving quality and clean coding practices
  • Closely collaborating with product owners, business experts, IT Analysts, Developers, testers and Scrum Masters and take an active part in agile ceremonies
  • Participating in our technology communities - dev days, innovation sprints and day to day

Who you are

This is the right role for you if you are a skilled Calypso and Java developer with 6+ years of experience, are fluent in English and have good interpersonal skills in dealing with technical and business stakeholders. And you own problems whether you know the solution or not – if the latter, you are not afraid to ask questions and seek answers. Finally, you have a sense of humour and strive in multinational environment.

Your background and skills include:

  • Knowledge and experience of Calypso platform, preferably supporting settlement of securities (bonds, equities)
  • Understand how to define and design good test coverage including negative tests
  • Practical experience in using some of tools and technologies below – or similar:
    • Docker, Kubernetes or OpenShift
    • Git, BitBucket, SonarQube, Splunk, Bamboo
    • Confluence, Jira
  • Experience or desire to learn to build and maintain integrations with off-the-shelf software in the enterprise setup

It would be ideal if you also have a degree in Software Engineering, Computer Science or similar.
