Senior Machine Learning Engineer - Predictive AI
Stockholm, SE, 111 46
Job ID: 3490
Join our team and use your expertise to fight crime! We are seeking a Senior Machine Learning Engineer (MLE) to harden our machine learning models for anti-money laundering, counter-terrorist financing and fraud. What can be more rewarding than using your machine learning skills to fight one of our society’s biggest threats?
The position is based in Stockholm, Sweden.
About Our Team Meet the AI & Machine Learning team. Our role is to improve how we detect and investigate financial crime with the help of AI and machine learning, to keep our customers, Nordea and society safe.
Our team is about 25 people working out of Stockholm, Helsinki and Copenhagen as a part of the group financial crime prevention (GFCP) unit that provides financial crime prevention services to all of the bank.
Collaboration. Ownership. Passion. Courage. These are the values that guide us in how we work and how we make decisions – and that we imagine you share with us.
Your responsibilities:
- Design, implement, and deploy production ML systems for financial crime prevention, ensuring robust deployment and operational readiness of models while owning the end-to-end ML lifecycle from prototype translation to scalable deployment using cloud-native technologies
- Implement comprehensive model lifecycle management including versioning (e.g., MLFlow), reproducibility, A/B testing frameworks, backtesting validation, and automated rollback mechanisms for mission-critical ML systems
- Develop fault-tolerant, high-performance ML infrastructure with observability (e.g., Prometheus, Grafana, or AWS CloudWatch), automated testing, and model serving platforms that support large-scale financial crime prevention across distributed environments
- Build robust MLOps frameworks including CI/CD pipelines (e.g., Jenkins), automated ML workflows, model validation, and comprehensive monitoring systems for continuous assessment of model performance and health
- Facilitate cross-functional collaboration and own ML roadmap planning, driving stakeholder alignment and translating prototypes into scalable, production-ready solutions
Who You Are
We believe that you're ambitious and enjoy bringing ideas, exploring their potential, and presenting the results. You're passionate about ensuring production excellence in machine learning operations, ensuring both the bank’s and society's safety. No need for prior experience in banking or finance.
To excel in this role, you should have:
- MSc or PhD in a technical field (Computer Science, Machine Learning, Software Engineering, Data Science, or related engineering discipline) with 3+ years' hands-on experience with ML systems in production and model lifecycle management
- Built end-to-end ML pipelines with a proven track record of model deployment and operations in production environments using frameworks like MLflow, Airflow, AWS services (SageMaker, ECR, Glue, Step Functions), or relevant services of other cloud providers
- Expert-level proficiency in Python, PySpark, SQL, and strong software engineering practices including code review, version control (Git), collaborative development, and technical problem-solving with ownership mindset
- Experience with MLOps frameworks, model validation and monitoring systems, and automated deployment pipelines
- Strong technical communication skills to present complex ML architectures to diverse stakeholders
