We are now looking for a (senior) Data Analyst to join Group Financial Crime Prevention (GFCP) Transaction Monitoring unit to support us in further developing our monitoring capability and improving our data quality. About this opportunity
 

Welcome to the Transaction Monitoring (TM) unit in Group Financial Crime Prevention. Our unit adds value by building and maintaining best in class transaction monitoring controls, to secure that our customers and Nordea will not be used in illegal ways in the society.  

 

As the Data Analyst, you will be joining one or several of our ongoing change initiatives to develop and improve TM controls. We’re committed to dynamically fight against international financial crime by using the latest technologies and processes, and for that reason we are data driven into the core. You will learn about Nordea products and as a data expert, you will play a crucial role in ensuring that data is correctly identified, utilised and understood, in order to develop efficient controls. 

 
What you’ll be doing: 

Depending on the specific area you work on, some of the tasks might vary but high level we expect you to:  

  • Work together with business stakeholders, to understand the underlying business needs and requirements and translate that into technical analytics and actionable insights. 
  • Use your data expertise and strong analytical skills to support the decision making process in the implementation of Transaction Monitoring controls based on analysis findings. 
  • Perform statistical analysis on complex and distributed datasets. Utilize various statistical models to gather evidence for proposed changes. 
  • Navigate a vast and complex data ecosystem to support the sourcing of new data into our data lakes. 
  • Identify data gaps and quality issues through data visualizations and analysis results. Find solution and remediating issues. 
  • Support and contribute with improving research, processes and data expertise in the team.

Your experience and background: 

We understand that the ideal candidate will not tick all boxes below, but they indicate experience we have seen in successful team members.  

  • Experience as data engineer / data analyst with expertise in SQL, ETL processes, data ingestion design and data modelling, combining data from multiple different sources.
  • Experience working with simulation and forecasting and data suitability.
  • Experience working with Excel, Python, VBA, R. Additional experience with Hadoop, User Acceptance Testing and Quantexa are considered a plus. 
  • Experience working with data quality remediation.  
  • Strong delivery record, ideally in the context within complex business areas. 
  • Its considered a plus but not necessary if you have previous experience within Anti Money Laundering, Transaction Monitoring and optimization of controls, or related anti financial crime disciplines. 
  • Its considered a plus but not necessary if you have past experience with specific financial products, for example, SWIFT payments, correspondent banking, trade finance, financial and capital markets products. 
  • Fluency in spoken and written English is required.
