You are an experienced, dynamic, and forward-thinking leader to join the CTO group, executing on the technology strategy towards a simplified and future-proof tech landscape with a focus on providing IT operations to our platform's technology teams that support the business groups.
This position requires a broad understanding of technology, and more comprehensive knowledge of ITIL & DevSecOps, Infrastructure and Cloud Architectures. The technical skills need to be partnered with a drive to automate the process and operations within the bank to simplify the IT operations. It also requires significant leadership skills. This role will report to the CTO.

About our Team
The Head of IT Operations will lead a team of approx. 300 people across the Nordics, India and Poland and will be responsible for overseeing the bank´s IT operations practices to deliver the always-on services across the bank as well as driving the BizDevSecOps culture across application development and infrastructure platforms. You as the Leader, play a key role in developing and supporting your team members to reach their aspirations and unleash their full potential.

What you’ll be doing
Be a key member of the Core Technology Leadership team, collaborating closely with Core Technology teams, Architecture, and business stakeholders to secure stability and a great customer experience for Nordea’s users.
Lead and deliver major modernisation, simplification and automation initiatives over the next years to strengthen and future proof our IT operations landscape.
Provide group-wide technology thought leadership, inspiring employees and leaders across the bank to understand and drive the aspired change in IT operations, resilience and security for technology space across technology, people and process.
Engage in deep discussions with domain experts (appropriately hands-on) and communicate effectively with senior stakeholders who may have less technical background and drive the transformation while running the bank daily.
Who you are
This is the right role for you if you have track record in leading multi-skilled teams and managing complex IT projects. You have passion for sustainability and determined to include this in strategy and day-to-day decision making. You have solid experience in setting a strategic direction, project execution and would govern the way we work in Technology. You succeed by leading, inspiring, and empowering people to do great!
Your background and skills include:
- Minimum of 10 years' experience in IT, with at least 5 years in a Senior Leadership role, preferably in the banking sector.
- Have superior interpersonal and stakeholder management skills, being able to navigate and collaborate across the value chain.
- Extensive experience in infrastructure, core operations, engineering practices, with a proven track record in complex IT landscapes.
- Exceptional strategic planning and business acumen, with a broad understanding of trends in the banking industry and technology
- Keen understanding of latest technologies and practices such as cloud, PaaS, AI, agile and DevOps
- Strong understanding of core infrastructure technologies that support the app hosting platforms across compute, storage and the dependencies with other service areas within CTO.
- Excellent communication and negotiation skills, with the ability to present technical information in a clear and understandable manner
This role is based in Warsaw within our IT Command & Control centre.
