We are now looking to hire a committed and passionate Head of Wholesale IFRS9 & EWI Model Validation and Model Risk Lead for a permanent position in the Wholesale Model Validation team in Model Risk and Validation (MRV).
About our team
Our role is to be an independent second line of defense unit for model risk management, model validation and independent risk oversight across the Nordea Group. We carry out independent validation activities of all models used across Nordea. In addition, we safeguard and support prudent risk management including risk appetite framework, rule setting in the form of policies and controls and risk reporting.

Main responsibilities in this role:
- Overseeing and managing model risk and validation of Wholesale IFRS 9 and Early Warning Indicator (EWI) models by collaborating with business to ensure that the models are robust and compliant.
- Develop and maintain expertise within Wholesale IFRS 9 and EWI model validations in the team.
- Responsible for wholesale IFRS 9 and EWI model validations and communication of validation results, issues and solutions to stakeholders.
- Provide guidance to Model owners and Model developers on best-practice on development and documentation of models.
- Lead model validation engagement for Wholesale IFRS 9 and EWI models with ECB JST and on-site model exams.
- Develop and maintain Wholesale IFRS 9 and EWI validation manuals and procedures in line with regulatory requirements. Ensure testing libraries in the model validation platform are maintained.
- Plan and deliver validations in a timely manner of all new and existing Wholesale IFRS 9 and EWI models in line with Nordea’s model roll-out plans.
Who you are
We are looking for a committed leader with:
- Deep knowledge of Wholesale IFRS 9 and EWI models, validation and model risk.
- Master’s degree or PhD in Finance, Mathematics, Economics, Statistics, Actuarial Science, Engineering or a relevant related field.
- Leadership experience with an ability to attract, develop and retain talents as well as provide guidance in the daily work, including supporting the team in challenging the model owners and leveraging the team’s technical skills to address business issues and fulfil financial objectives.
- Excellent stakeholder management and networking skills with an ability to drive the agenda of the unit in a large complex financial institution.
- Solid planning, project and process management skills with a strong track record of concrete deliveries.
- Outstanding communication skills, both in written and spoken English, with an ability to tailor wording depending on the audience.
