Would you like to join a team of highly skilled and devoted engineers? We are now looking for an IT Infrastructure Specialist to support Commercial Cards Application platform.
In Nordea, we’re harnessing the power of technology to reinvent the future of banking. A tech revolution is underway – and you can make an impact. Though we’re a Nordic bank, we’re also one of the largest IT employers in Tricity and Warsaw. Working with international teams in an inspiring working environment, you’ll have lots of opportunities to expand your skills and advance your career.
About this opportunity
Welcome to the Commercial Cards team. We add value by support, maintenance, deployment and automation of multiple Nordea applications to fulfill our customers needs. As an IT Infrastructure Specialist, you’ll play a valuable role in keeping Nordea operational and transforming our BizDevOps way of working. We are looking for a senior IT Operations Specialist to take ownership of day-to-day operations for our customer-facing card platform. The platform runs on legacy WebLogic and a modern Kubernetes-based platform. This is a purely operational role: you will be the go-to person for incidents, changes, monitoring, security remediation and operational documentation, working alongside the current operations lead and gradually taking over the area.
This full-time role is based in Poland (Warsaw or Gdansk) with hybrid work model.
What you’ll be doing:
- You will be practicing BizDevOps, collaborating closely with business, development and other stakeholders.
- You will automate operations and drive continual service improvement, based on application performance.
- You will manage technical integrity, updates, releases and deployments of the application.
- You will handle IT operations , support on weekend or out of office hours with ITIL best practices, including incident and problem management.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Own operations end to end: incidents, service requests and work orders in BMC Helix, handled within SLA.
- Lead major incidents: coordinate the teams involved, communicate with stakeholders and drive root-cause analysis.
- Monitor applications and infrastructure (Grafana, AppDynamics, batch jobs), tune alerting and dashboards, and run problem management to remove recurring issues.
- Plan and execute production changes, including recurring work such as monthly Windows patching.
- Manage certificates and TLS, and remediate security and vulnerability findings (scan results, CVEs, TLS issues).
- Troubleshoot across the stack: logs, pods, Java application servers, DB2 databases, SFTP and file-transfer flows.
- Make configuration changes through Git (branches, pull requests) and run deployments via Jenkins across dev, test, pre-prod and prod.
- Automate repetitive operational work with scripts.
- Act as the operations contact for platform, network, database and other infrastructure teams: raise, track and follow up requests.
- Own the runbooks, work instructions and knowledge base in Confluence, and coach colleagues on operational practices.
- Drive the operational side of migrating legacy workloads to the new platform and decommissioning old environments.
MUST-HAVE REQUIREMENTS
- 5+ years in IT operations, application operations or infrastructure, including ownership of production systems.
- Solid Linux and Windows Server administration.
- Hands-on Kubernetes and container experience: kubectl, Docker, deployments, troubleshooting pods.
- Administration of Java application servers (WebLogic preferred; Tomcat, JBoss or similar accepted).
- Working knowledge of Git: branching and pull requests.
- DB2 or SQL: writing queries to investigate and verify data issues.
- Strong ITIL practice: incident, major incident, change and problem management, using an ITSM tool.
- Good understanding of networking and security: TLS/certificates, firewalls, network zones, SSO.
- Scripting (PowerShell and/or Bash).
- Experience with monitoring and alerting tools (e.g. Grafana, AppDynamics, Prometheus).
- Ability to analyse Java application logs and stack traces.
- Clear written and spoken English, including incident updates for non-technical stakeholders.
- Ownership and independence: makes decisions, escalates well, and stays calm under pressure.
NICE TO HAVE
- Ability to read and understand Java code, to help pinpoint the cause of application issues.
- CI/CD tooling: Jenkins, Maven, Bitbucket.
- Messaging/streaming platforms (e.g. Kafka).
- Experience in a bank or other regulated environment.
- Familiarity with Agile/SAFe and Jira/Confluence.
- Interest in AI-assisted tooling for documentation and incident handling.
