Welcome to the Cards Simplification ART where we are building the Nordea Cards Strategic Platform by:

  • Replacing and Upgrading Core Cards Business Services in NO,SE,FI and DK
  • Migrating Nordea Cards Business Critical Flows (Authorisation, Clearing etc.) from existing providers
  • Mixed Mainframe Cobol and Restful Java based microservices


As the Lead Test Automation Engineer you will be accountable for:

  • Ensuring that the following activities are conducted in an efficient and well documented way, i.e. working according to latest version of Nordea Test Strategy:
    • Test planning
    • Test analysis and design
    • Test execution
  • Designing, refining and implementing test automation strategy for the entire solution, including roadmap, tools, framework & approach
  • Providing goals and objectives for test automation across different release trains and system team
  • Providing leadership, training and mentoring to implement test automation
  • Implementing, maintaining and improving test automation frameworks
  • Actively working with development and infrastructure teams for integrating test automation as an integral part of Continuous delivery pipeline
  • Carring out automation feasibility studies
  • Pro-actively seeking to make continuous improvements to test coverage, execution and automation
  • Pro-actively measuring, improving and reporting effectiveness of the test automation against identified goals and objectives

Must have:

  • Experience with multiple test automation frameworks like Python or Java based frameworks (able to compare pros & cons and decide on a best fit)
  • Demand analysis skills (able to understand business needs and aid business in creating/structuring test cases, sometimes across multiple-programs)
  • Framework design skills
  • TA lead to business: able to guide & advise project teams on best-practice TA strategies, able to arrange status reports & demos
  • TA lead to TA team: able to distribute work amongst team members, aid tool or language problems and ideally work with us in the TA framework team by submitting back code others can use
  • Strong analytical developer skills (able to design/architect test automation solutions and approaches “seeing the bigger picture”, aiming at reusability and common implementations across related projects in the same program)
  • Experience leading and guiding test automation efforts (providing input and guidance at project start up, best fit test automation frameworks, libraries and approaches, working with business to identify scope and priorities, setup and running of recurring demos and status updates etc.)
  • Experience building test automation solutions which aid extensibility + maintainability + scalability
  • Experience in CI/CD (avoiding the pitfalls of brittle untrustworthy scripts or those costly to extend & maintain)
  • Experience with distributed teams, multi-cultural environment
  • Excellent organization, communication and interpersonal skills
  • Strong problem solving skills with the ability to work in an unstructured, fast-paced environment
  • Fluent in written and spoken English (must be able to work in spoken & written English, and be a good communicator)


Nice to have:

  • Experience with multiple programming languages (ideally both scripting and OOP-based)
  • Experience leading TA teams (interviewing, onboarding and training others, and being able to assist fixing team problems or questions)
  • Ability to reduce technical debt and apply robust, continual improvements and refactoring approaches to a team-based test automation effort
  • Experience in industry design patterns (GOF, Screenplay, DI etc.)
    • Experience with SQL
    • Experience with JIRA / qTest
    • Ideally experience with Agile Projects and Continuous Integration
    • Fluent in English
