About this opportunity
Welcome to the Valuation Analytics team. We add value by building tools and infrastructure used to ensure prudent valuations are used for Nordea exposures to financial instruments.
The team is part of the Valuation Management & Control unit, that acts as the 1st Line of defense in the valuation area and ensures prudent valuations are used for Markets and Treasury.
This includes monitoring of pricing models, independent price verification, controls on market data and calculation of model risk & valuation adjustments.
The team builds common tools and infrastructure in close cooperation with the teams running the valuation processes.
We enable more efficient and resilient processes, provide business intelligence tools on valuation adjustments and help ensure compliance (to internal and external requirements) on controls, reporting, analysis, data and processes.
As Quantitative Developer (Analyst) you’ll play a valuable role in developing robust infrastructure and tools used for valuation processes (predominantly in Python and SQL). As an developer working in the intersection of business and IT, you will support in designing solutions and help ensure appropriate (technical) standards are met when tools are developed in the unit.
What you’ll be doing:
- Develop infrastructure to support valuation management and control processes (predominantly in Python and SQL)
- Support in solution design and development of IT applications supporting the unit and its processes
- Support the units automation journey by automating processes
You’ll join a newly formed ambitious team that’s purpose is to unlock potential in the unit by developing robust solutions and automating processes.
The role is based in Finland (Helsinki) or Poland (Warsaw).

Your experience and background:
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Finance, Economics, Statistics or equivalent
- Strong technical skillset with at least 3 years of experience in Python programming
- Experience with SQL and relational databases
- Experiences in data analysis and working with large amounts of data
It would be also ideal if you would have experience in:
- Experienced in solution design and software design patterns
- Building business intelligence tools/dashboards (e.g. PowerBI)
- Valuation of financial instruments and pricing models
- Quantitative models and/or machine learning
- Experience in MATLAB is considered an advantage
- Object oriented programming in other languages (e.g. C++, Java) and web software development is considered an advantage
