About our team
Meet the Payments Information Provisioning (PIP) team. Our role is to aggregate payments data of different origin (cross-border and internal, inbound and outbound, classic and instant etc.) and populate respective data sources with it, so it can be consumed by both internal systems and external customers (e.g. for reporting, payments search etc.)
The team operates in a matrix organization with analysts, developers, product owner and project manager spread across Nordics, Poland and India all working together on the same goals / deliveries. The team is part of Data and Reporting service domain under Payments and Financial Transactions Technology service area.
About this opportunity
To strengthen our team we are looking for experienced Lead Developer / Expert Data Engineer who has skills to do hands-on data engineering and development work. The right candidate also understands other aspects of software development:

As an Lead Developer you’ll engage with many different stakeholders, so the person we are looking for is an outgoing individual who is self-motivated and contributes to a good team spirit. You are an experienced and passionate developer always seeking the best solution.
Your main responsibilities will be around the consolidation and harmonization, sourcing, storage and distribution of Payments Data to other solutions. It also includes integrations supporting different end-to-end payment flows in Nordea´s target payment architecture.
What you’ll be doing:
- Working as an Expert Java developer (with Apache Kafka) in Payments Data Domain
- Technical lead for developers / data engineers in a scrum team
- Contributing to solution architecture, design and maintainability of applications
- Designing, building and maintaining near real-time data pipelines
- Interacting with product owners and stakeholders to clarify requirements and detailed reporting needs
- Supporting the transition of the existing solutions to a modern tech stack
- Collaborating with other engineers and properly documenting your design and solutions

Your experience and background:
- Expert in Java (incl. Spring / Spring Boot framework)
- Expert in developing Kafka producer and consumer code
- Expert in SQL
- Experience building distributed, highly-available and high-throughput applications
- Hands-on knowledge of practices like domain driven design, event sourcing architecture patterns, microservices architecture and clean code
- Hands-on knowledge of CI/CD, Jenkins, Docker, Kubernetes
- Degree in computer science and engineering, mathematical modelling or similar
- Good understanding of master data management and data modelling principles
It would be ideal if you also:
- Experience in one or more cloud platforms (AWS / Azure / GCP)
- Experience in one or more data processing / ETL platforms (Databricks, Snowflake)
- Experience with Apache Spark (both batch and streaming processing)
